Some divergence in selection with WI choosing zero spinners to England's two. Then WI, having only occasional spinners elect to bowl last and leave their four seamers in the dressing room on the first morning. No tactical orthodoxy.

Though i did see on cricinfo's pitch report that the track is expected to quicken up.

Kraiggg taking his time. Looks like WI just blocking Jimmy the Saint and scoring runs at the other end. As is usual.

I said on the other thread (do we need a match and tour thread??).... is Curran going to be successful when the ball isnt going to swing outside England? I really struggle to see how he can be at times, but hope Im wrong.

WI 35/0 in 15 overs.

WI haven't played any needless shots so far. Whatever they have missed is while getting in line of the ball in attempt to defend. The ball did swing in air few times and seamed for both bowlers, but the bounce is not much

Sam has bowled almost everything below 130 kph and Jimmy below 132 No pace generated by England opening bowlers.

I'm guessing England will bowl spin in this session, assuming Jennings doesn't fill in.

A bit surprised Leach was left out for Rashid. Apart from Anderson, there's really no one who will dry the runs up. And Root tends not to bowl Rashid much at the top order.

Maybe they think the pitch is flat and they need the mystery spin for surprise and variety.

I suppose they hope his left arm variation will help

Jack indeed bowled amazingly well like a very good asian spinner last time. Choked runs, varied pace as ball got old and when wicket was slow, picked wickets, nice line and length. Gets dropped. :aww

50 up for Windies for no loss. :clap Opening parnetership finally putting some runs for them.

Maybe they think there's nothing for the quick bowlers and his batting will be useful as in SL. But then WI have gone in in with four quicks!

You can argue that if there isn't much out there for the pace bowlers, then you need your best operators...

Moeen strikes. John LBW trying to play sweep on a stump line ball.

WI 53/1 in 18.1 overs.

Shai comes as one down. Think he batted 2 down so far. Promotion :?:

Campbell just short of fifty on debut.

Decent crowd in.

Campbell out for 44. Not bad for a debut.

Got a start, was positive and got his team a start, not a bad effort for him, good to see Mo grab wicket straight away though!

Joe persisting with 3 slips for Ben. That's attacking captaincy going into 20 over old ball. He's got most bounce of the England Pacers even though he has bowled later than others.
