Jennings has one innings to save his career

Has to make 75+ your think to have half a chance of playing the next game

I agree. And it'd have to be a convincing big score too I think not a scratchy effort.

He might as well play some shots

Try and hit himself into form as what hes tried so far isn't working at all

Yes. Maybe the knowledge that this is surely his last chance might free him up a bit, he's got nothing to lose.

West Indies took and hour and three quarters to bowl 19 overs, that's about 11 overs an hour. 6 wickets, of course, but even so.

with 45 mins of play left in the day as the England openers came back out, the min overs remaining was 18

The openers survive to the close and that was never in doubt :lmao

Openers safely negotiate the overs

8 overs were not played on a day where 16 wickets fell and 4 overs were lost for the innings breaks

7 overs were not played on the first day where only 4 wickets fell and no overs were lost to innings breaks

okay there was a 20 min rain delay on day one, so that accounts for 1 Gabriel over lost

Modded me, we're actually playing like a test match team and not a bunch of complete muppets. Of course, it's a dead rubber, and it's not over yet.

The selection seems to be utterly chaotic at the moment, as though the selectors are just pulling names out of a hat and seeing what sticks. Yes, it's working ok in this match so far, but there's obviously no plan, just desperation. Otherwise they'd be clear what the best side is.

Despite the Aussies being absolutely there for the taking at present, we're well on track to surrender the Ashes for the first time at home since 2001. There's only about four players who are nailed on certs to start the first Ashes test - that's crazy with one match to go.

My view is that this is the best side they have available with the squad they've got. They have, by and large, got players playing in their right positions. Now the players they have might not be good enough, but giving them their best chance to succeed seems obvious enough. The mystery is why it's taken 3 tests of chopping and changing to end up with what patently appears to be the right side with everybody playing in their right positions.

You could look at this team and only Buttler at 5 hints at the appalling squad selection for this tour

Dobell had a good piece... I'll see if I can find it

Not sure how Jennings plans on scoring any runs today if he is going to be leaving long half volleys

Keemo Paul stretchered off with some sort of torn muscle /leg injury and Gabriel is also feeling his hamstring. Denly has already been badly dropped but if these two can survive for a while then things might get easier against the other bowlers.

Hopefully that is the last time I have to watch Keaton Jennings scratch around in an England shirt

Unfortunate dismissal but hopefully Jennings last test innings!
