Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal has been dropped from the Test squad, in a shock move by the selectors. The captaincy goes to opener Dimuth Karunaratne for the tour of South Africa.

Sri Lanka squad: Dimuth Karunaratne (capt), Niroshan Dickwella, (v-capt), Lahiru Thirimanne, Kaushal Silva, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Milinda Siriwardana, Dhananjaya De Silva, Oshada Fernando, Angelo Perera, Suranga Lakmal, Kasun Rajitha, Vishwa Fernando, Chamika Karunaratne, Mohamed Shiraz, Lakshan Sandakan, Lasith Embuldeniya

dropping Chandimal completely for a tour like this makes no sense from the SL selectors at all

Allrounder Wiaan Mulder has been called up to the South Africa Test squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka, which starts next week. Mulder is the only addition to the Test squad that scored a 3-0 clean sweep over Pakistan earlier this season, as Cricket South Africa decided not to rush fast bowler Lungi Ngidi back into action despite his recovery from a knee injury picked up during South Africa's trip to Australia in November last year.

South Africa Test squad: Faf du Plessis (capt), Hashim Amla, Temba Bavuma, Theunis de Bruyn, Quinton de Kock, Dean Elgar, Zubayr Hamza, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Duanne Olivier, Vernon Philander, Kagiso Rabada, Dale Steyn

No warm ups for SL and no Chandimal, bowlers struggling to get fit, this could be one of the worst test tours ever for SL could well be painful viewing

SA kick the can on which of their quartet of world class pace bowlers to leave out by picking them all and pushing Big Vern up to seven to accommodate Maharaj.

SL's team looks unfamiliar.

SL bowl first in overcast conditions.

Looks a mismatch.

Durban though, so traditionally spinners' pitch. So might suit SL. And they'll get first use of the cloud.

Early wicket for Vishwa Fernando, playing his fourth Test. Oshada Fernando is making his debut. Kasun Rajitha is playing Test number 5. Lasith Embuldeniya is making his debut. Pretty inexperienced attack.

Amla goes now. 9-2, and a long tail.

South Africa leave out both de bruyne and Hamza on the return of du Plessis. They play Philander at seven.

That's where I would like to see Holder bat. It allows South Africa to field four pace bowlers and a spinner.

Elgar
Markham
Amla
Bavuma
Du Plessis
De Kock
Philander
Maharaj
Rabada
Steyn
Olivier

11-3 but a 40+ stand now. Still, a good opening session from SL. At least they didn't lose the toss and get bowled out.

Two for Vishwa.
