Must be one of the greatest innings ever by a Sri Lankan?

And a candidate for innings of the year...

Absolutely amazing :salute

Did not see this coming at all. Stopped paying attention at the 8th wicket.

The best batsman ever managed something like this ...exact same score (153*) ....that puts it into perspective. One of the best achievements I sport to make that total in context.

As Andy said....take a bow.

That is the comparison that immediately came to mind

Surely by far the best knock by a sri Lankan and must be top 5 of all time given it was away from home and scored against a top class bowling attack featuring Steyn's and Rabada

The only innings in recent times that is remotely close to this one was kps 180odd in Mumbai on a bunsen

I read on a MB this was the best innings of the C21st. Hard to know as I didn't see it. But I thought, what about VVS.

But it's going to get into the lists of the greats. It's got a lot going for it. Percentage of team score. The fact it was the last innings in a chase. The quality of the opposition. Then the x factor, the drama of the last wicket stand.

Its certainly up there with the great innings.

Before this i guess Sangas 190 in Hobart might have been the best innings by a SL player? The difference though is that Sangas innings did not result in a win for SL.

It's hard to argue against tbh

It being in the fourth innings and away from home for sri Lanka to win a test in south Africa makes it a truly remarkable feat
