England havent even launched their middle order rockets yet... they might do this with 3-4 overs to spare.

Even after all this time doing well in ODIs, I still don't trust England not to collapse in a heap. They are definitely favourites from here though.

Interesting - for all the criticism of his strike rate, Joe Root has a better ODI strike rate than Chris Gayle.

A fantastic chase by England that even Anne Hegerty would be proud of

all over

good win

England allowed less than a hundred dot balls in their innings, whereas WI allowed over 140. For all the big hitting and the fireworks and the 6 hitting, it was the number of dot balls that did for WI

I get the impression that England were in no mood to panic at any stage of that run chase, which has to be a good thing in a world cup year.

Chris Gayle has to be a big part of the reason for that, of course. For all the big hitting, he has never been one to scamper about

England still screw up in ODIs but you can no longer rely on it.

Amazing really. It was the innings break when I woke up this morning (Ozzie time), I looked at the score and thought '360? No chance'. But we've chased it down so comfortably that although it took until the 49th over, England were always well on track.

A very mature and professional chase from England, their highest successful chase ever (and third highest of all time). As pointed out above, the dot ball % made all the difference. It's not every day you make the team that breaks the world record for sixes look second best. Quite the marker for the world cup.

Also not often that you can even argue that a player who made a run-a-ball century cost his side the game. But Gayle scored 135 off 129 with 61 dots. Root's ton came up in fewer balls, Roy had a much higher strike rate.

And while West Indies may have biffed 23 sixes, to England's 6, England hit 37 fours and West Indies hit 21. So the total boundary count was about equal: 44 West Indies, 43 England.

Of course, the fact that West Indies dropped so many catches didn't help either.

Want to see Tom curran in the side for the next game

He is one of the top 2 or 3 death bowlers in the world from what iv seen recently, cant pick both Plunkett and wood for me

And Rashid needs to be bowling the second the powerplay overs have finished not in the 48th and 50th overs

Curran, Woakes and stokes should be bowling all of the last 6 overs of the game between them
