I think he was just talking about Vaughan and Pietersen, tbh

although.... as I keep on endlessly pointing out..... The ECB actively encouraged England to ruin their test team and ranking for this moment, which always seemed foolish to me, so perhaps it's just a case of their chickens coming home to roost

Over-reaction, but perhaps an understandable one. Criticism is hard to take. Of course pundits will look for reasons defeats happen. The players shouldn't expect them to be cheerleaders or look for excuses.

I think the media is less critical than it even has been in my lifetime.
