Surprised. Which selector did not want him. He has been superb even in India where the wickets were not at all suitable for pacers and he showed lot of ability and skills of a developed bowler.

Amla edges a short ball from Liam Plunkett. England pacers have probably picked 4wickets with the short ball.

Ben takes the wicket of Rabada and Immy to finish off the innings. Huge win for England.

Stokes might be MOTM. Wondered if he was steering England to a substandard total earlier. But in the end, a matchwinning effort.

Kept an eye on the England innings at work but got home for all the South African innings.

Having now watched the highlights of England's knock I feel a bit more confident. From a scorecard perspective it seemed something of a disaster by 2019 standards - but there was a lot to credit there.

Roy and Root had a protracted length of time in the middle where they complimented each other well and Stokes' innings dovetailed nicely into that as well.

Few worrying performances elsewhere - most notably a continuation of Mo's lean spell but other than that I think all's well.

WI v Pakistan at TB tomorrow. Hard to pick a winner. I'd guess WI. Obviously WI if Gayle comes off.

Today was only the 24th time Roy and Root batted together in an ODI ever.

Of those 24, 7 have been partnerships worth over one hundred runs.
