From the Guardian obo.

The last five ODIs at Lord’s, including four games in this tournament, have been won by the team batting first. But in the game before that run started, England were 20 for six v South Africa.

The thought of Nathan Lyon with his grubby little hands on the trophy would have been harder to handle.

Always a nervy business - a final when you are "favourites" . And a rain delay not helping...

Conditions suggest bowl first but recent records are with the side that takes first knock. Could be a good toss to lose ?

Honestly think England ought to be able to win either way : they do look to have the stronger team , man for man. But I think we have seen enough evidence that a single ODI between two reasonably comparable teams can go either way.

Both teams had excellent semi final performances - in rather contrasting types of matches. Should be a good final : really hope the weather doesn't mess it around too much...

No fear of early movement then...not that Kiwis ever display fear of anything. Think this does represent their best chance : get past the early life , make a decent score and pressure England out of it later.

England will need to bowl much better than they did here against Australia , when they totally misjudged the ideal length. Think they have learned from that one though , judging by the way they bowled the other day.

Teams as expected. Only 15 minutes lost as long as the rain is done for the day...

England don't do well at Lord's in ODIs. They often don't bowl well here.

NZ backing the old mantra of getting runs on the board then putting the squeeze on and letting pressure do the rest.

From the rest of the tournament, you have to expect it'll come down to Kane and Taylor. If they go before the halfway mark, NZ surely won't get enough to defend.

Saw a claim the other day that England have never beaten NZ at Lords in an ODI ...surely can't be right ? Not sure how many they've played but really...

Too short from Woakes in the first over. There's a bit of nibble out there but not much.

Still too short by England. How many times have we said that at Lord's over the years? You'd think they'd have learned.

Guptill has had a bit of good fortune, but sometimes that's all you need to get out of a rut.
