I thought that England team, hierarchy, and their fans would prefer facing Aus in the semis, and avoid India until the final.

a bruised and battered Australia, at that. Khawaja probably out with his hamstring injury, and the straight substitute, S Marsh, having broken his arm earlier in the week. Handscomb(e) to now take Khawaja's place if he isn't fit for Thursday.

Stoinis is to undergo TWO scans (I think for two side strains). Mitch Marsh stands by for him.

Then there's Maxwell. He was also injured during the net session that took out SMarsh, but the biggest injury might be to his confidence and his ability to handle the short ball. That has brought him undone a few times this CWC. No doubt Wood and Archer will be keen on giving him a few lifters.

Can Mitch2 be injured as well?

Yes, I had forgotten about him.

I can't remember what it was, a possible side-strain(?), but I have the idea he is expected to be fit to play.

England just never beat Australia in world cup matches. I think they beat Aus in 10 of the last 11 ODI's, but they rocked up for a WC match and England got a thumping.

I think I'd pick the Aussies over India, even though England beat India and lost to Australia. India are the better team. But shouldn't be awed by either. Both have great strengths, but lack great depth of quality.

England could do with Mick Lewis being drafted in to replace an injured Starc.

I read Wade or Handscom and Mitch3 to come in for UK and Stoinis.

Certainly a disrupted Australian team, and a great chance for England to finally put down a marker.

But i fear it could be decided on who wins the toss.

Besides Wade, isn't that what I said?

I heard this morning that despite the noise that has been circulating about Wade for some months, the selectors have stated that Hansdcomb(e) was very unlucky not to be selected in the original squad, and heavily hinted that he is the first batsman to fill a gap.

Finch lost the toss in 7 out of their 9 games. Australia won 5 of those 7, including against NZ and England, and won both games where they won the toss.

One thing at least - it is bloody high time that Finch got some tosses right.
