Pakistan win the toss and bat. Abbas out, Imran Khan II in.

This is probably going to be as one-sided as every recent Pakistan tour of Australia.

Long time since Pakistan won in Australia.

Awfully inexperienced pace attack.

Oh dear. 75-0 becomes 94-5. A bit of a recovery, but even 200 looks a long way off for Pakistan here.

The Gabba strikes again.

I haven't seen it, but it sounds as if Rizwan got a shocker. What's the point of a TV umpire replay if they can't get it right?

Pakistan have a long tail - Shah at 8 averages 11 in test matches. He's done ok to hold out for now, but you'd have to think Starc and Cummins will blow through the tail in no time once this partnership is broken.

The over rate is disgusting. 60 overs bowled in 4 hrs 50 minutes of play, 30 left to bowl in 1 hour 10 - about 12 behind. Even if they use the full extra half hour we're likely to lose at least 5, probably more. Pathetic.

Fair play to Pakistan, especially Shah and Shafiq, for holding on and making a game of it. They were helped by Australia's over rate though - rather than turn the screw, Australia were forced into 20 consecutive overs of spin, including half from part-timer Labuschagne, to try and catch up the rate (and we still lost 4 overs in the day), meaning that the partnership wasn't as pressured as it could have been.

Once the new ball turned up, Australia wrapped things up in pretty short order.

240 isn't the worst, at least it's something to bowl at, but history suggests it won't be anything like enough for an away team batting first at the Gabba.

Only watched the highlights. Pakistan generally get a few bad calls in Australia.

Even at home i still don't have the confidence in this Australian batting line up. Australia's runs will have to come from either Warner or Smith again.

Though not great from Pakistan, at least they managed to put something on the board to ask some questions tomorrow. Australia will be happy after the way Pakistan started.

The Australian openers will have been happy about not having to face a couple of overs in the evening.

Australia off to a flyer. Wee Davey is then caught off a no-ball, which will not improve Pakistan's mood.

Depressing that this is coming true as early as tea on day 2.

Warner on 99 at tea.

You have to question the wisdom of giving a debut at the Gabba to a 16 year old who has 7 first class games under his belt, no matter how promising he may be.

Other than Yasir Shah, Pakistan's four other bowlers have a total of 13 test matches between them (0, 1, 3 and 9 for Naseem Shah, Ahmed, Afridi and Khan respectively).

It shows.

Australia look set to pass Pakistan's first innings total for no loss. Innings defeat on the cards and it's still day 2.

So the TV replays do work?

Seems Warner has returned from his holiday in England. Averages 60 plus at home and 32 away. Still good to watch when playing like this.

Marnus really needs to go on and get a 100 in this series. Might not have a better chance. Batted well in the ashes, but never got close to the debut 100. Does not need it to become a mental block. Not convinced though that he has a long term future at 1.

It was completely blatant. His entire foot was over the line, let alone on it. I think the Cummins decision was wrong, but you can at least see why that was a marginal call.

Utter domination from Australia. I don't know why their batsmen seem to find it so easy at home compared to touring sides, but they do.
