Jadeja injury is a big big miss for India, and that's made worse by Axar being injured. If Jadeja was fit the spinners would probably have been Jadeja, Ashwin and Kuldeep. With the injuries though, Wash had to play to give some batting depth and then they needed Nadeem as the left arm orthodox so that meant Kuldeep missed out

Yes but vast majority of the time the conditions don’t change that quick so both teams are still batting and bowling in similar conditions.
Just don’t buy the win the toss and win the game argument of test cricket unlike say white ball cricket where chasing massive so toss is win the game type thing.

Tbh I stopped caring about India winning the toss now prefer them concentrating on batting and bowling than what happens at the toss.
In my opinion hardly makes a difference in test.

Think India have lost more than 5 in a row, they certainly in a losing streak in marquee series, probably lost 14 out of the last 15 against England or something like that.

Tbh Axar injury might be a blessing in disguise, Nadeem is a better player than him.
Axar really isn’t a test cricketer.
If jadeja was fit Saha would play and pant get in as a batsman.

For someone who doesn't care about the toss you don't half post a lot about it :)

FWIW I reckon most teams would prefer to win the toss as it enables them to do what they think suits their lineup in the prevailing conditions. Also with matches following each other so quickly these days the issue of giving pace bowlers rest after heavy workloads in the previous game can come into it.
Most of the time , the stronger team can overcome loss of the toss. The weaker side though may find it easier to compete when they get a perceived advantage at the toss. Fairly sure England are pleased to have earned first knock in this game ...
Whether it makes a big difference we will perhaps see over the next few days...

Here the key moment of the day,Nadeem the key bowler in the test series.
Especially with Ashwin having an ok record against England.

England bowlers might be less so later in the match :) Reckon bowling India out is likely to be their biggest problem in this series.

Daft reverse sweep from Burns gifting India the first wicket. :angry

And Bumrah quick to follow up pinning Lawrence for a duck !

From a good position England find themselves two down at lunch. What a waste of a fine start.

Probably after a long time never felt India would take a wicket in a session.
Poor 30 mins from England especially when ashwin was bowling crap and India generally being poor with the ball.
500 is a must from England to not lose the game, maybe 550.

Bumrah just getting the ball to come in, but at the moment he is too far down the leg side. Needs to get the ball a stump more to the off side.
