I'd heard there was a bit of controversy over whether Green had grounded the ball, but I have to say it looked like a catch to me

of course if he does that to Root at Edgbaston I may very well hold a different view

Handsome win to Australia :salute :Aus:

The right result. WTC is a flawed competition anyway , but Australia have been the best side over the last couple of years and rightly crowned here.

Pity the Indian challenge evaporated so quickly on the last day - though in truth it was hugely unlikely that they could actually have got close. Had just been hoping for a bit more serious cricket - and a few more miles in the Aussie bowlers' legs ahead of Friday

Boland really killed it off rather smartly : I thought he was very much the best of the Australian bowlers over both innings and would be amazed if they don't have him in the XI for Edgbaston. Reckon he could be the one to really give England's extremely positive batting approach a serious test and will be fascinated to see how they adjust to deal with his relentless accuracy.

India at least made a game of it over days three and four after a rotten start. They'll be disappointed to be runners up again ; but to be honest their chances in this match , with an aging lineup shorn of key players in Bumrah and Pant , probably never were very strong. Think they have a bit of rebuilding to do over this next cycle.

it always seems to be played after the IPL, so India will always be on the back foot

Yes, well played Australia. I saw India complaining about the timing and venue, but if they will insist on expanding the IPL until everything else is crowded out...
