Pretty sure I mentioned this once and no one agreed, but the wickets are designed to break with any miniscule contact... Fielding teams should be allowed to appeal for a bowled dismissal in situations where it is clear the ball hit the stumps, but the bail is not removed, and the umpire should also be able to refer at decision to the third umpire to give them out where its clear the stump is hit.

It feels like these are freak incidents. Windies will probably lose a game they would have been country mile favourites to win, while the batsman is rewarded for poor play on luck. In the past its been suggested sometimes manufacturing errors can lead to deeper grooves, and little knocks wont dislodge the bails.

A major point in the test, right there.

I can't see Aus getting out of trouble like they have, if they were 6/62

Mike, what's your opinion on the newbies in this windies side? Few of them look decent if they can stay from franchise cricket

Looked like a massive upset on the cards. Probably not now. Still, well done to the Windies for digging in as hard as they have. If they can scrape to a target of over 200 anything can happen.

West Indies 193 all out

McKenzie 41

Hazelwood 3-24
Lyon 3-42

Target 216

Shamar is a very good prospect for the future. Pity that Starc yorker may have broken his toe.

McKenzie and Athanaze have a lot of talent, but need to start converting starts to big scores.

Sinclair looks a better batsman than bowler.

Jury still out on Hodge and Greaves, who need to be more consistent.

I think T20s franchises will only be interested in Sinclair and Shamar. So, the others have time to work on Test cricket.

Khawaja goes. Windies need a couple of early wickets to put some pressure on Aussies

Still possible for WI to pull off a shock, but Australia remain heavy favourites.

Shamar took a 5-fer on debut too, including Smith with his first ball in Tests. Can't see the Aussies choking. But unexpectedly close.

Shamar Joseph, take a bow. What an extraordinary performance. :salute

And at the Gabbatoir as well, where Australia have only lost once in 35 years before today.

Smith nearly took it home - 91 not out, and the margin just 8 runs.

One of the great away wins for the West Indies.
