Sarfarz out.

Devdutt also makes a 50 though. :clap Every batsmen enjoying batting on this wicket. Like Arthur said, busy in boosting career average.

Lead is now 168.

No.

This is a totally new batting lineup. So they must test their full potential and see whether they can score 500 or 600. This will gives the new look batting unit :

1. Confidence that they too can score 500 or 600 like previous team like Sehwag, Gauti, Chet,Rahul, Sachin, VVS,
Sourav.

2. When situation arises that India need to draw or bat 2 days, they will have in mind they batted 180 overs at Dharamshala and so they can do it again and fight a draw.

3. Make opponent energy drain so they are not as much energetic when they bat 2nd and look to win by a huge margin.

Three for Bashir. Going for runs, as they all are, but taking wickets. Triggers memories of Jason Krejza.

so England had one batter pass 30 whilst India have everyone so far passing 50. This is a rout

my worry is that this will be such a bad 100th test for young Jonny Blameless that he puts off his retirement until the end of the English summer

4-fer for Bashir. Is he winning the contest to be England spinner? He's taken a lot of wickets.

Whereas, of the 3 Indian batsmen to get put have scored two tons and 1 fifty. The batsmen were able to get set and play siginifcant knocks. Chance for debutants of the series (Devdutt,Sarfaraz and Dhruv) to contribute a good total from the middle order. With lead of already 97, India should be looking to expand the lead to atleast 250 runs. Wojld have expected more but 5 out the 6 batsmen have played just 41 tests. And if Shubman is left out of 5 then 4 have just 16 tests between them. Such is the inexper8nce of this batting lineup. But still the experienced lineup has a favorable wicket to bat on and should be aiming a massive lead.

250 lead looks unlikely with 8 down now. :no

India already have enough, Adi. If they declared now, my guess is they wouldn't have to bat again. England are done and will be pleased to come home early

Durham, India may have enough to win this test but with this new look batting lineup we have seen that the team has not scored 500 to 600 inspite of wonderful starts by top order.

Maybe they are scoring 450 at peak because they are inexperienced and new to test cricket. Probably will have to wait for two years or in other words more experience to start scoring 500 in home conditions on wickets which are batsmen friendly.

What do you think rather rate Ollie Pope. Is he a quality batsman? His 190 plus was just outsanding and ranks alongside Cook and KP level innings which they played in 2011. I am surprised he hasnt scored anything post that knock which would have taken his confidence at akk time hugh of his test career so far.

467 runs by batting unit of which 5 batsmen have cumulative experience of only 46 tests. Thats more than acceptable as of now i think.

Also good to see that such inexperienced lineup has batted 118 overs. Hopefully like more runs expexted post more experience they will also start to bat out 150 overs as well.

Also met my minimum lead expectation of 250. :clap So well played Team :ind:

no England batsmen have scored more than once, tbh.

the nearest thing to a consistent batter England have had in this series is Crawley and he hasn't got a century to his name.

Poe, Duckett and Root have one century each and nothing else in 9 innings, Stokes has had a 70 and nothing else, Bairstow has had nothing, Foakes has had obduracy but no runs, whereas Crawley has 4 fifties to his name. The England batting has been pretty stark in this series.

Pope's big innings, magnificent though it was, accounts for 2/3rds of his total runs across 9 innings

Root's 122, over half of his total

Duckett's 153, almost half of his

It's been a series of dismal batting collapses from the batsmen

Hartley's 165 runs in the series is only 30 behind, those of Stokes, Bairstow and Foakes and only 70 behind Root. Hartley has been nearly as productive as any of the batsmen from 4 to 7.

All England's positives in this series have come from the young bowlers and the continued fitness of Stokes.

and you have to go all the way down to Jadeja to find an India batsman averaging under 40 in this series and he's averaging 38

whereas only Crawley averages more than Jadeja

Yes, England batting has been dismal.

But Ollie Pope has confused me and i am clueless why he lost form when it just started.Surely it was not a fluke innings with meticulous shots followed by very poor form later. What are your views about him overall as a test batsmam, not just on basis of this series. Like talent, hardwork, shot selection, technical flaws if any and how England hiw is he setup in England main team from selectors perspective or think tank management backing. Will he be given more chance.
