Well they went with Anderson, Woakes, Atkinson, Stokes and Bashir, who never got a bowl

Anderson 26.4-10-58-4 (14.50 econ 2.17))
Woakes 18.0-5-40-1 (40.00 econ 2.22)
Atkinson 26-7-108-12 (9.00 econ 4.15)
Stokes 18-6-39-3 (13.00 econ 2.16)

Next Test I am guessing
Pennington, Woakes, Atkinson, Stokes, Bashir (with Wood brought in for Anderson)

Yes you get the new ball but what end depends on Stokes. Anderson was lucky to get the Pavilion End this time but had to bowl at the Nursery End for his last spell in cricket.

If Woakes thinks he might play in the Ashes then he will be expected to play in Pakistan and New Zealand. Away record 51.88, Home 22.04

Last year 11 Dec - on being left out of the India tour
It's mixed emotions," Woakes said, a day out from the start of England's five-match T20I series against West Indies. "Whenever there's a Test squad announcement, you're always desperate to be in it. But at the same time, at my age, with my away record - particularly in the subcontinent - I feel like it's a fair decision."

I see Pennington has been given 2 heights 6'2 and 6'5. He looks tall to me.

Well Pennington is now injured after bowling 5 balls for the Northern Superchargers. Had he got a go in the Tests would he have lasted a bit longer? I'm very disappointed in not having a tall fast bowler in the squad.

Woakes, Atkinson, Wood, Stokes, Potts and Stone are all roughly the same height. From 5'11 to 6'2. Feel like there will be no change to the bowling attack. Maybe Wood will be rested after the 2nd Test for Stone who is fastish 90mph.

Jimmy did never learn about the Nursery End
There was an article in the Cricketer by Mike Selvey talking about Anderson and the ends at Lords and how he was glad Atkinson had to finish his over at the Pavilion End which meant Anderson had to bowl from the Nursery End. "If any of his previous 40,000 deliveries he bowled in Tests were better than his last wicket, then I never saw them, and I saw a great many". 'The Nursery End is the end for away swing bowlers'.

Well Woakes is going to Pakistan. Ollie Robinson misses out.
Suppose they will open with Woakes and Atkinson. After one Test it might be Atkinson and Stone.

Not sure it's really sensible to pick him again. He definitively failed on tour long ago.

I miss Anderson so much that I have to play the first video to get my fix of him bowling. That was before he got 16-3-35-7 v Notts.

Just realised I have put the same clip three times :facepalm
