Election completed. Sharad Pawar group won but coach and clubmate remain unselected from the winning group this time. Selected members are mostly from prominent clubs than ours. However, our club will still benefit imo. Hope they rock this year as well and continue the quality Mumbai cricket system administration so well at all levels that we win Ranji as frequently as only we do.

Ooooh a day/night match sounds very interesting, would love to play in that but sadly grassroots cricket doesn't have such facilities to make it possible :(

All of us who have been selected in the squad have to confirm the availability soon as the management has to book the flight tickets to Gujarat in advance to keep flight travel cost lower and choose replacements if anyone cannot make it. The clothes used during matches and tour with our club sponsors logo has to be ordered. Hotel accommodation has to be done. I am not yet sure whether i should tell the coach to go ahead in booking my tickets. One match being day/night, everyone is very keen for the tour to begin. I guess it will be very tough to play in floodlit conditions and dew.The number of matches and overs per matches will depend on the opponent club as well.I guess there will be about 5 matches at least on this tour.

I thought you might make a good skipper, but there's a lot to do off the pitch as well I suppose.

Arthur, i have not yet got an opportunity to be a captain in proper cricket. My captaincy experience is only in street cricket matches.

It would be nice to get into that role. There is lot to do in captains role.Often when i field or bat, i keep on thinking about which bowler to bowl, how to plan a target or run chase, which field to set and many relevant things. So it is not going to make me tense if i get an opportunity.Yes, rotating the bowlers well and ensuring the overs are completed in allocated innings time is crucial. Also keeping the team members playing in spirit of the game is important. The more match experienced the captain the better.

The most important off the field task imo is the team meeting. In some cases the cricketers approach captain or team mates if their own whites or shoes are damaged and temporary arrangement is required for next day.The club website and data updation is taken care by one or more cricketers who may not necessarily be the captain. The head coach and assistant coaches take up roles of scheduling inter city tours and local matches.Coach takes up the responsibility of co-ordinating with the sponsor to get clothes and some gear sponsored by them.We also have a facebook page which is used to post team selections and tournaments fixtures , so that those who have missed the nets can keep track of all important tournaments.Telephonic conversations is done by captain as well as clubmates. The off filed tasks of the captain are shared amongst various club cricketers.
