Game 7 in the league

WE WON AGAIN! :joydance

The team changed this week, as the place we were playing at is always a batting paradise, so i played 6 batsman including my wicket keeper me at 7, and then 4 other bowlers so i had 4 genuine bowlers, and me the all-rounder plus part timers

This was the side (the same but a few swtiched round lol) 2 spinners and 3 quicks

1.G.Powell
2.J.Jackson
3.G.Hope
4.I.Barstable
5.G.Jackson
6.N.Maynard (wk)
7.Captain CF
8.N.Sammers
9.J.Long
10.S.McKenzie
11.P.Terry

i won the toss and chose to bat, and hoped my side would rack up the runs

we got off to a bad start, in the 4th over, Powell fell caught behind. Their keeper had a blinder only conceded 2 byes in the entire innings! We picked things up and after 15 overs we were 100-4...run rate was fine, but we were losing wickets. Hope was keeping the innings together, he ended up hitting 70 and batted for 21 overs. I was in at no7 and only managed to make 25 this time round, was caught behind as well, ball reared up off a length and gloved behind. Their quick bowlers were getting good bounce off the pitch and was enjoying it. We managed to take one of their opening bowlers for 77 from his 10 overs which helped a lot, as the other opener was keeping things tight, when he bowled. We managed to post 252 from our 50 overs.

In the field, I took the new ball, and got a wicket with the first ball. Pitched up swinging away and found the edge, happy days! I opened with a spinner from the other end, and he bowled 4 overs in his first spell, proving expensive going for 24 runs, so brought him off. I bowled 5 overs in my first spell taking 2-13, kept things tight and picked up wickets in my first spell. We had trouble getting the other opener out, who made 73 in the end and played well. J.Long bowled well for us, picking up 5-45 from 10 overs, i bowled him out, when he was on. We had them 156-5 after 35 overs, so off the last 15 overs they needed 94 to win with 5 wickets in hand. P.Terry came back on and took a wicket with his 2nd ball of his new spell LBW, batsman didnt like it, but umpire made the right call IMO. In the end they ran us close but we bowled them out for 240, WINNING BY 12 RUNS!

We won by 12 runs, and remain unbeaten from our first 7 games :joydance

Game 8 in the league:

WE WON AGAIN, UNBEATEN FROM FIRST 9 GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are on an incredible run at the moment :D

I stuck with the same side as not to change a winning formula

1.G.Powell
2.J.Jackson
3.G.Hope
4.I.Barstable
5.G.Jackson
6.N.Maynard (wk)
7.Captain CF
8.N.Sammers
9.J.Long
10.S.McKenzie
11.P.Terry

I lost the toss and we had to bowl first. I gave Sammers one of my spinners the new ball to take pace off the ball straight away. he bowled 7 overs in his first spell only conceding 17 runs which proved to be a good decision. I took the new ball from the other end, bowling 7 overs and taking 2-28 in my first spell. After 20 overs they were 84-3. I used a lot of spin in the middle overs of the game, i had 2 frontline spinners and a couple of part timers...The part timers bowled 4 overs each, and my frontline spinners bowled out, so i had used 28 overs of spin in the 50 overs. I bowled my last 3 overs and took another wicket to finish with..10-3-3-48....i was happy with them figures. They closed on 228-7....i was very happy to resrict them, to that on a relatively flat surface....

Pick of Bowlers

Sammers-5-31
CF 3-48

THE CHASE

We got off to a flyer, after the first 8 overs we had got to 68-0 They went with pace on the ball, and our openers loved the pace on the ball. In all honesty they didnt have a lot of firepower in their bowling attack, and i think they knew that 228 wasnt ever going to be enough. However the spinners came on, and started to pull things back, with the ball sticking in the pitch, and boundaries were hard to come by. However as we got off to a flyer, we could afford some quiet overs, and just push the 1's and 2's around. We suddenly then lost 3 quick wickets, which left us on 180-3....however we still had 15 overs left to get 49 runs. We cruised home with 5 overs left, to win comfortably...

We won again to remain unbeaten from our first 9 games :D :joydance

Well done CF!

Don't listen to GG, he's a Glamorgan follower. They get told that 3-84 is better than 3-48. Keeps the morale up.

I joke of course, well done cf.

If I played, I'd probably concede 48 runs too. And that would be my only over.

That was told for batting and i think GG confused it with bowling. ;)
