i have gone in with 3 fast bowlers, myself includeed, one spinner, i have another seam bowling all rounder in my side i can use, and i have a couple of part timers i can use, who arent bad...

UPDATE:

after 42 overs my side are 200-8, been a bit of a collaspe, i myself only made 15 today, however i will hope to contrubite with the ball.....greenish surface, i would say 230 is competitive today

but only a friendly :)

will update later.

Oh so you have to carry the batting spikes as well as bowling spikes. Thats what you pay for being an allrounder . :laugh

Must say your par scores for 50 overs are less than we had if we go by this match.

I liek thsi thread a lot . It takes me back to sweet memories of my club days. :dance

Differences in Indian and English wickets perhaps Adi? Although a minute sample size to be doing such a comparison...

i hope you dont mind, but i tend to keep my team name secret...apolgies if this isnt ok, but i never reveal it lol, i have done it on another site, (not v2 ;) ), and i liked to keep that secret...have no idea why, just do lol

all over :(

212 AO

30 minute interval, and then have to aim to bowl these guys out, still not sure whether i will defo take new ball or not, may have to mix my bowlers around here.

ADI-SCORES WOULD BE LESS in this game, as its pre-season still.

Brave, I would add the difference in fielding standards as well. Our wickets didn't help pacers. Most balls bounced around waist height for new bowlers. Most of the club cricket bowlers of age group 10- 16 can only bounce it upto stumps level. Bowlers of age group 16+ too find it very difficult to bounce shoulder level. Rare to see one fly nearby the shoulder, neither on concrete, nor on mats (unless there was stone beneath which made it fly 10 feet  ) or on soil. Lack of collapse with new ball helps in building good total even if it is spin friendly.

CF, hope you are aware that mobile phones have been banned by cricketing boards during matches. ;)

Match situations will call for changes of tactics. However, do you deviate a lot with respect to strategies that have been decided in team meetings :?: It's good that you have two allrounders in playing X!.

REPORT ON TODAY'S GAME

:(

Sadly today we fell to a 2 wicket defeat :( (LUCKILY IT WAS ONLY PRE-SEASON)

Day didnt start well, lost the toss on a green pitch and was made to bat first...

1.T.Hunt-
2.J.Jackson
3.G.Hope
4.I.Barstable
5.G.Jackson
6.C.Easter
7.N.Maynard (wk)
8.CAPTAIN CF (C)
9.J.Long
10.R.Griffiths
11.H.Connor

That was the side i went in with.....

I myself tend to bat 6 or, however dropped myself down to give others a go as it was a friendly.....

didnt get off to a great start losing jackson in the first over caught behind, however managed to steady the ship.....After the first ten we were 85-2, runs where flowing, however the other side brought on some nagging medium pacers who enjoyed the green pitch and the run rate dropped.....after 27 overs we had stumbled to 125-4 hunt fell for a magnifcent 75, the only batsmen who looked settled on this pitch.....partnerships were put together.....however at 42 overs we were only 200-8, i myself failed with the bat today only making 15. a few overs later we were bowled out for 212, and making the criminal mistake of not batting out the overs....

THE CHASE

I myself took the new ball and got the ball swinging past the bat. At the other end, i went with long, whose nagging line and length managed to keep the rate down. After the first 15 overs we had restricted them to 55-4.....i had picked up 3 wickets and long 1. However i had to ring the changes to save overs....i bowled 7 overs in my first spell. They re-grouped and after 30 overs found themselves 185-6, they were cruising, i brought myself back and failed to take a wicket, however brought a part time spinner on who took a couple of wickets, but it was all too late, and they got home by 2 wickets

Luckily it was only pre-season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (have another pre-season game next saturday)

Assuming you have a bowling department better than the batting department, and the wicket is normal (does not affects decision making), then what would do first on winning the toss.

i would usually tend to bowl first, unless, im playing on a dry pitch, which has happened quite a few times..

this pitch was really quite green, and thus a massive toss to win.
