Next season's overseas player will be an australian quick bowler :) Nathan Schouten. 21 years old right arm quick, who can bat a bit, (hitter) looking forward to him arriving and strengthening our side :)

i was due to do another season of captaincy this year, but sadly i have resigned from the role, due to my in-ablity to raise a level of motivation for me to want to play this summer let alone captain the side..

You guys don't know me, but this decision was a painful one for me, i love the game so much, and i love captaincy more than anything, but for some reason, and i dont know what it is, im struggling to motivate myself for the coming season

Yes, ditto. When I saw this thread bumped up, I got a little rush, like spring was coming.

Ditto from me too. At least you know when to go rather than a certain England captain Cook who shall remain nameless.

You're still young enough to have another go at it, once you re-find your mojo :thumb

chin up cf. I presume you'll still be playing, so that might inspire you.

Can understand how you feel from a lack of motivation to play. It doesn't help when the off-season is longer than the on-season and cricket itself can be mentally challenging.

Is it because you fear you won't be able to produce the form with bat or ball?

I know ow it feels, i had been out of club cricket for almost a decade. Then there was no option to give up to my will and i resumed club cricket again after all those years.
Club cricket rocks, hope you will find the way back some day. :thumb

If you want my honest opinion, I would suggest you quit if your hearts not in it.

From your perspective, be selfish. Sports clubs can be quite intensive and laborious operations that suck up your free time, so I think people would understand why you walked away if you do. If they don't, then I would question their status as friends anyway.

From your teams perspective, nothing worse than having to carry someone unreliable or negative, or who isn't into it as much as you. I played cricket and rugby at clubs where some guys would sell their mother to get a chance in the team, I think its unfair to take that opportunity away from them if you don't want to play.
