GAME 3 IN THE LEAGUE

This is the side i went in with

1.G.Powell
2.J.Jackson
3.G.Hope
4.I.Barstable
5.G.Jackson
6.G.Daylor
7.CAPTAIN CF (C)
8.N.Maynard (wk)
9.J.Long
10.S.Mckenzie
11.P.Terry

G.Daylor in for Easter-Daylor is an all-rounder

that was the only change

WE WON :joydance

I won the toss and chose to bat....seems strange to many, however the pitch looked good, the weather was good, all we needed was a good score.....we didnt get it....we only made 170-9 from our 50 overs......Hope top scored with 76, i made 40 from 30 balls bit of a much needed cameo at the end......

at halfway i talked to the troops and said we have to bowl and field well to defend this, and that is what we did!

we bowled them out for 120! J.Long was the pick of the bowlers with 7-28......i took 1-25 from 8 overs, and we managed to skittle them.....

we pulled off an unlikely win..

WHICH MEANS WE ARE UNBEATEN FROM OUR FIRST 3 GAMES :D

away game this week at a venue where the ball usually spins, the make up of my side will be different, will defo play one spinner, not sure whether to play 2 or not...as yes the ball does usually spin but it has rained a lot over past few weeks so pitch could be a lot greener than usual...

If it has rained then the wicket will not be dry as most of club level wickets are not covered. So the 2 spinner options in those conditions are a huge gamble at least for a 50 over match, even with a wicket which is expected to spin.

adi most ground and pitches do have covers in our league...we are playing at quite a high standard and most of us have covers...

im tempted to give my young legspinner a go in tandem with my left arm spinner.

Good. We never needed covers because cricket is not played in monsoon here. Do you play some matches on MAT's as well.

GAME 4 IN THE LEAGUE:

WELL WE WON.....just

1.G.Powell
2.J.Jackson
3.G.Hope
4.I.Barstable
5.G.Jackson
6.CAPTAIN CF (C)
7.N.Maynard (wk)
8.N.Sammers
9.J.Long
10.S.Mckenzie
11.P.Terry

N.Sammers my leg spinner came in for Daylor this week. i had 2 spinners in my side as the side we played usually try and prepare a dry pitch which does spin..

I won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. I promoted myself to 6 this week, to accomdate the 2nd spinner so i had 3 genuine quicks and 2 spinners, i also had part timers i could use. Lost a wicket in the 3rd over though, Powell fell looking to play aggressivley in the first 10 overs. Hope and Jackson batted 19 overs and put on 110. I came in with the score on 190-4 with 7 overs left. I hit 40 from 21 balls to get my side up to 240 with help from some others....so we had set them 240 to win from 50 overs...

I opened the bowling with Terry. After the first 10 overs they had to got to 80-3....so we had got wickets but they had got off to a start run rate wise. i bowled 7 overs in my first spell and ended up with 2-35 from first 7 overs. They put on a few partnerships but we managed to take wickets at regualar intervals. it went down to the wire...they needed 10 off the last over 2 wickets in hand...i stepped up to bowl the final over....first ball they hit 4...meaning they needed 6 off 5. Next ball i took a wicket hit the middle stump......AND THEN: 1 wicket left, and next ball, I GOT THE WICKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we had pulled off a win just! MEANING WE ARE UNBEATEN FROM OUR FIRST 4 GAMES :joydance
