I have purchased the BDM Ambassador English Willow bat. First i went to a shop co owned by Ranji cricketer Naresh Churi. Checked few bats from different manufacturers for about half and hour at his shop. As the shopkeepers was a known contact i thought to buy atleast one thing from him rather than other shop, which was batting pads. Then i checked the batting pads shortlisted the S S lightweight batting pads. There were other pads which offered better protection s, but at club level not many bowlers bowl at the speed which international bowler do. So i opted for the S S pads as the lesser but enough protection means lighter weight. Also, the curve on the inners side of the S S pads was much better than other brand i saw. so it helps. The batting pads costed me rupees 1100.
Then i decided to go to another shop and have a look at more options for the cricket bat. At other shop i shortlisted the Adidas Sachin series, SS Sehwag series and extreme series as well as two series from B D M. Considered the balance of the bat, the grains on the surface of the bat, the sweet spot, the ball that we use at club nets and club matches. The Adidas bat had an english tape coating on some part on face of the bat. The glue would spoil the surface once the coating goes. Also, the coating makes the sound as if the shot played is bad. The B D M and S S series have provided the tapes for the edges as well. The B D M went a step ahead and they have factory fixed a toe protecter on the toe end of the abt to prevent wear and tear due to sliding. It has a lower middle which will suit Mumbai or wickets outside Mumbai whenever we tour. The balance is terrific. It weighs 1170 grams which is very much lighter than my previous BAS Vampire. The Original cost on the bat was 5760 rupees. As i dive often and noticed that the bruised elbow is keeping me away from upper body workouts for a week or more, i bought elbow protector. The total cost of bat and elbow protector was 5900 rupees. I asked the shop owner for discount, telling him that every sports shop gives discount to club cricketers at least. He asked me which club i play for. On telling him our clubs name, he replied " Is __ your coach. I said yes. Our coach being very prominent in Mumbai as well as amongst international Indian cricketers, i was not surprised that the shop keeper knew who the coach of our club was. Immediately he offered us a discount of 900 rupees and i paid him 5000 rupees for the bat as well as elbow protector. It's good that he lowered the usual high profits in sports goods on reference of our club and coach.
The pics are below. I will be knocking the bat with a wooden block although the bat is compressed in factory and air is removed. The mallet takes about many weeks as the surface area is small. Instead i will use friends wooden block which is being used for knocking new bats of our club/club mates.Currently there is a single handle grip. I might think of going for one more only if the shock is not being absorbed well.

The white thing on the handle is the English tape which the bat manufacturers provide with the bat. I have removed that and need to fix it on the edges later.
