CF, we play 15 over matches by forming few teams within our club. We also play 20,40, 50 and 3 dayers ( 15 day tour outside Mumbai ) with other clubs.

Previous decade we played a lot of 20 and 40 over matches.

Thanks Arthur.

The sprained ankle pain which started in the nets is still there but the recovery is good. I am unfit to play cricket (can't bowl and field) . The warmups will be the most challenging. However, no stiffness as such. Maybe, i will consult my clubmates when i meet them today evening about what to do as they must have also got the same injury some time during their 20 years of club cricket. Doctors experience will also count tomorrow possibly. :laugh At any cost have to stay away from fielding and bowling , because can't afford any further twisted ankle in next few weeks atleast. That will keep me away from club matches. I am being Glenn McGarth recently who also had similar injury but caused due to standing on the ball during his net session. Had been Shaun Marsh previously when i struck hamstring as the dive to get saved off from being run out was very hesitant unlike my other other dives.

Arthur, I did that at home before my first nets session and it felt very much better to see myself in whites again. 6 times costly office wear clothes have never given me the same feeling than that in cheaper whites. Like the advert says "There are somethings that money cannot buy, for everything else there is master card."

I never miss any opportunity to get clicked on camera. Still have to click myself again in whites with complete batting gear. I am still using whites (supposed to be used only for club matches) as the orange shirt and black trousers with sponsors logo has been ordered but not received by the shopkeeper. Will need to click one in that dress code as well. :|

adi, to be honest with a sprained ankle, not a lot a doctor can tell you..

1.Rest it, only way it can really get better

or

use the RICE method...Rest, Ice,Compression,elevation

but the only real way it will get better is rest, and that is what a doctor will tell you..

CF, i searched about RICE method and there is enough easily available information that "Google God' has to provide me regarding my injury. :thumb My clubmates say that there are now variety of good ankle support options available to deal with it or reduce chances of catching the knee sprain.

The will and intent took over the brain and i went to the nets inspite of the injury. Did the warmup. Got the opportunity to bat today. After the first round of batters finished , it was my turn. Requested the middle stump guard from one of the 5 bowlers who were bowling in turns at quick succession. Enjoyed the batting. Glad to be feeling the ball on the bat yet again. Got bowled twice by the specialist bowlers.Once by spinner who got the ball between the gap of bat and pad to knock the stumps when i attempted to drive him while moving out of the crease. The other wicket was lost to pacer. Didn't realize what was the mistake there. No catches offered though as most other batters offer. No stumping chances as well as once i had missed the ball i had the backfoot grounded over the line. Played a wonderful lofted stroke over the spinners head while moving down the crease when i judged the flight. The coach applauded it, so i take it that was the best stroke of my session today. Was personally impressed with the few late cuts , which i am sure would go for four at third man. One good sweep shot as well. Some good strokes through covers and mid on. The ones that were flicked through square leg would not go for boundaries. Maybe a single or a two. Having finished the batting, asked coach for the feedback. He said that it was good considering that was my first batting nets since comeback. That was good to hear. Personally too i felt that i would have kept the scoreboard ticking at more than run a ball. No edges as well. The 5 or 6 bowlers keep bowling one after another and there is hardly a gap of 5 seconds between deliveries. Concentration is lost at times and the ball is not sighted well. Other good thing being that the grilled helmet was no more a distraction, although few session will help me be more comfy in it.

Bowled few overs of spin and got one through which would have resulted in stumping in a match situation as well as another one with a caught wicket. So the bowling spell was good too. Certainly, no big overs and two wickets will be okay from a specialist batter :laugh

Coach asked me if i would be playing the 40 overs match this Sunday and i will have to revert to him by tomorrow so that he can finalize the team. I doubt i am match fit due to ankle injury, and also i do not want to take the risk of being injured and missing many months if i put more pressure on knee. I will take the Watson approach and rest myself for the match. Better to miss one or two matches match than risking many matches. The time will come when i am fully recovered from the injury.

There are two more new things at our club.

(1) The two goal shaped structures from which a synthetic balls are suspended by using a strong rope. It's very useful to a quick knocking before and after the nets or whenever the team is batting in the match.

(2) The return trainer . One has to throw the balls on it and it rebounces. It is used when there is nobody to give you short distance catching practice.

Will post the pics soon once i click them.
