Are you trying to suggest that Voges is better than Joe Root?

The imponderable is what impact will the absence of Moores have? It could be that England are much better prepared going into this series. Possibly best since 2012 before the Flower regime became scary.

Who fields best will go a long way to deciding the marginal issues. Aus fielded better in WI. For example, the match up between the spinners will be influenced by the absence of Jordan in the field, and probably the retention of Buttler.

Bayliss might change some things, but it's not obvious that he knows the County scene that well. The selectors and Strauss seem to be in charge of team decisions. Taking only pace back up to Spain suggests they absolutely know their team, and are just legislating for injuries to the pace bowlers.

Surely as a bowler it's Lyon >>>>Moeen.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

I think Moeen is a decent bowler, but not as good as Lyon. My ? was because it's not an equal comparison. Moeen won't take as many wickets as Lyon, but he might score some centuries.

Though, I don't think England dismissed Garry* in the last Ashes.

Lyon's nickname.

I don't know how you can say that Root>>Voges. One ">" at the most, but using your logic that you just applied to Moeen, Voges superior bowling should drag him to equal.

Then again, Voges has triple the test batting average of Root......
Maybe

It's like picking lists. You always pick one howler to start a row.

I suppose there is an element of Voges being an unknown quantity at this level. But Root has been one of the phenomenons of world cricket over the past 1-2 years.

I doubt either will bowl much, but if you're having Voges' better Test averages, I'm having Root's eight Test wickets to Voges, zero, and I raise you one dot.......

I'm supporting the Aussies (though not in the ODIs). But I fear Joe warrants two more thans. He averages 54 and has six tons That average is Clarkesque. And Voges isn't even a nailed on starter is he? Though I guess he will start.
