Nope not been seen again.
Surprise smith gets the job when ecb set the requirements for the job it was a pretty big asking list for it considering the guy had to play international cricket, have experience of the job.
Doubt smith actually fulfils that role considering he only played 2 test and he not exactly well known and Experianced for the Job.
Maybe ecb struggling to find people interested in the job.
They only really got flower, newall and journalist that not got any jobs now.

Struggling to know how smith meets the requirement of having experience of picking talent and teams and the last one experience of international cricket.
Surely 2 test isn’t enough for that.
No one even remember the dude playing for England or even playing county cricket.
Ok he meets the international requirement by the slim margins but seriously how does he meet the other one considering he only ever played the game and write or commentate on it he never actually been a coach or a selector before.

Maybe the guys that watch tms could see if he done an Atherton in where he generally picked out players from the comms box, athers picked out billings when he was very young and key generally good at picking talent, likewise ganguly, not sure I heard smith pick players out before.

TBH could be a sign no one actually wants the job let be honest the job would be brutal considering how crap england are at the moment and legit no man can really do anything if England haven’t really got the players coming through.
It is a bit like managing a relegation club, they not much going for it.
Having seen English cricket in the last 2-3 yrs really struggling to pick any decent batsman, bowlers or spinners.
Pretty hard to see how English cricket can be in a good place in the next 5-10 yrs.
the white ball talent is not even enough to persuade the new selector to come in since rightly Morgan and Bayliss get the credit for that.
Ecb probably not had much applications for the jobs essentially been the same selectors in the past plus flower and smith. If they wanted new blood they probably had no choice but select smith.

England are pretty poor at Tests. They're doing well in ODIs which the ECB seem to be prioritising. So it's not a bad time to be a selector from that point of view.

The fact that most of the public only really cares about Tests is another matter.
I always say that everybody's right.
