The only time Bresnan could be seen as fourth seamer was whilst he carried his elbow injury. Brenan was equal to Anderson and Tremlett in his contribution at Melbourne and Sidney and against India outstanding. I don't see pace bowlers as first, second and third seamers but as a bowling unit where each offers up a different challenge to batsmen. Bresnan does that admirably and deserves a better judgement than you have presented.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

If we're only taking five fast bowlers, this board has cut adrift Tremlett, but there will be a feeling that one bowler is unlucky. Maybe this poll suggests that there won't be too much of a falling off if Bresnan isn't fit, as Rankin has nearly as many supporters.
