You Are Geoff Miller: Batters.

Postby Arthur Crabtree » Thu Sep 19, 2013 3:55 pm

Which batters and keepers do you have in mind to face the pace and spin of the Aussie in the Ashes later this year. Please include your keepers in this selection.

I've included Woakes and Stokes among the bowlers, so you can have them as your sixth bowler, ninth bat if you like.
I always say that everybody's right.

As you've only allowed 8, that means only 1 reserve batsman.

I've gone for: Cook, Root, Trott, KP, Bell, Taylor, Prior, Buttler and would also have Compton.

Supposing we have two spinners and five pace bowlers, we can have eight or nine batters. I've given the opportunity of an allrounder among the bowlers as a ninth batter. Quite possibly, the second keeper will be a spare batter. But yes, there could be eight or nine batters.

Probably should have nine. Not everyone will include Woakes as a ninth, as I would.

Cook, Root, Trott, KP, Bell, Bairstow, Compton, Prior.

Ninth would be Taylor or Woakes. Actually Woakes.

Anyone but Bairstow!

Voted for Cook, Compton, Trott, KP, Bell, Root, Prior, Davies. But would also have Taylor or Ballance as a spare bat.

Cook, Compton, Trott, KP, Bell, Root, Prior, Taylor and Davies. A futile exercise as Andy Flower's pet is bound to get picked :)

For KP only 8? Well perhaps easy to make a guess who hasn't picked him ;)

There are a few posters who wouldn't want to take KP. I think he did quite well there last time?

I'm curious AC, who are these posters you refer to.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

I went - and actually want - the obvious six plus Compton and Bairstow. Which seems the prevailing view on here.
(although some one apparently had a slip of the finger and forgot KP :) )

I won't be disgusted if they take Taylor as well , or even if Buttler were taken as a spare keeper , though I think it is unlikely.

And if the "total votes" at the bottom of the table is correct , someone only picked seven....

Aha ...that must be where the missing KP vote went ! I demand a recount :)
