Who would you pay to watch, would be a good question. Not sure who'm it would be? Then again, I'd probbaly pay to watch Mark Waugh as much as I would both Lara, and Viv.

More splendid use of all their names.

Brian Charles Lara.

Isaac Vivien Alexander Richards.

Viv has a much more auspicious name. But both were likely to be called by all their names at times of great achievement

Isaac had a much more iconic walk to the wicket. very arrogant, but magnificent.

Back to the comparison. I would say Lara played against better bowlers, for a longer period. Viv had Lillee and co, during the 70's later 80's, and then Hadlee, Imran, and Beefy early - late 80's. Plus Qadir of course.

Lara faced Wasim, Waqar, Donald, Pollock, McGrath, and of course, Warne and Murali.

A search has suggested 'prince'. Not heard that one.

Viv seems entrenched as the great of his era. Maybe Greg Chappell could be competition, but practically everyone would say IVA. Lara is less obviously the dominant batter of his time, though is arguably so.

It's the sort of thing Mark Nicholas would make use of.

Tenduklkar is the only realistic comparison. Ponting, Dravid, and Kallis, were all a tad behind. Viv would have had Pollock, and B Richards for company, at least in the 70's.

I had heard "the prince of Trinadad", which is way too Michael Jacksonesque for me.

Smokin Joe, or Master Blaster, are far more macho.
