All Time Ashes XI: Number Three.

Postby Arthur Crabtree » Thu Jul 09, 2015 10:25 am

Some really strong candidates here, obviously. Hammond's eight tons in twenty six innings (two unbeaten) in this position is, well, nearly Bradmanesque. Charles Macartney's record on Edwardian pitches is nearly, well, Bradmanesque.

Batting averages at three, minimum 800 runs.

Me too. Fortunately Hammond scrapes into the list for positions 4&5, so gets a proper chance. As does Gower.

Gower for me.

I wasn't around in The Don's playing days and although I have seen footage and been very much aware of his feats, the bloke seemed to be a total arse.

The not-Bradman vote is split, so this is going one way. Going to move onto to the middle order now. Poll open a few more days though.

This closes in an hour or so.

Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Bradman so far.

Please vote for the spinners I'll be putting up as soon as I get back from the shops.
