Which emerging International bowler will get the most wicket

Postby The Professor » Sat Oct 24, 2015 10:55 am

Buried this opinion away in the SL v WI thread so thought would air it here.

We are at a time when at the same time there are a number of very strong emerging bowling talents emerging from four International teams.

In your opinion who will bag the most wickets by the time they call it a day.

A bit of a slow burner of a poll but there we are.

Rabada for me.

Wood is injury prone so I don't think he will play a lot of tests. Warrican looks good from what I've seen but it's only one test so far.

Going to be hard for him to get in the Test team though.

Surely in India given how well he has bowled in these ODIs and Philander is innocuous on flat tracks.

A few years back I'd have said Marchant de Lange was going to be the next big thing in fast bowling, shortly followed by Pat Cummins.

Shows how much I know.

Sort of the point I was getting at. Back on 606 when asked who I thought would be the next generation of Australian bowlers I went for Cummins and Lyon, got one right but even that took a little time.

Ask Indian fans who were around in the early 90s about who should have been the greatest modern batsman, those with a decent enough memory will say Kambli. Look at how that went.

Mustafizur Rahman is now the fastest bowler to pick three 5-wicket hauls in ODI Cricket.

Mustafizur Rahman included in ICC's ODI team of the year. First ever Bangladeshi to achieve the feat.
