I never saw Dev's knock but it has to be up there with the best given the match situation.

Probably not great, though it did have India 17-5. I think Zimbabwe beat the Aussies in that world cup as well. That said, the Aussies were missing a few rebel players weren't they?

I remember that game. Don't think it was televised but the 17/5 announcement was a bit of a shock. Then Kapil decided to go for it and the rest, as they say, is history.

Duncan Fletcher bowled 12 overs. Kevin Curran and John Traicos had significant first class careers.

The Viv innings was played against a strong England attack, in bowler friendly conditions.

I thought Mike Hendrick was playing, but it was a bit late for him. Botham, Willis, Foster, Miller and ... Pringle. I'll downgrade strong to good.

They bowled very well though and England got the ball to talk early on. It was hard batting for a long time in the innings, until later on, Viv took them apart. The other end was just blocking in support. Looking back, it feels like it proved to be a glimpse into the future. England's ODI side used to do ok back then.

Kevin Curran had a terrible record with the ball... 44 in ODI's
Tracios was pretty underwhelming in test cricket, and averaged over 50 in ODIs
Butchart went at 5.5 an over, when 5.5 an over was 10 an over, and average 53
Peter Rawsons major teams listed on cricinfo is Suffolk....
Duncan Fletcher had a decent record, but only played a handful of games...

Basically, you couldnt find a worse attack to pummel.
