McG is recent enough for everyone to have seen him. My first pick is Marshall though

So far the only dodgy pick is Sehwag,
The only reason India are a dominant pick right now is because in the past 50 year their probably have had the best batting line up and most importantly a lot of those names have been in recent times

India havent had the best batting line up imo. Id take Langer, Hayden, Ponting, Clarke, Steve, Martyn and Gilchrist... with Lehmann, Katich, Symonds and Mark Waugh in reserve!

India never had a second opener really, apart for that one year in about 2009 or 10 when Gambhir refused to be dismissed. Ganguly was not brilliant for large parts of his career, and when you take probably the last 5 years he didnt really justify his selection. I think the only standout series I can remember was in 2007 when India and Pakistan engaged in their run fest on pitches that must induce bipolar disorder in anyone who has ever had to bowl a cricket ball.

Even Wasim Jaffer looked unmoveable on those decks, and so did Yuvi. Pathan scored a hundred in one test.

I think the results so far show that there is a strong Indian contingent on the site.

Yeah but none of those players are even making this line up.
I don't really understand the indian hate on this really considering me and Shanky didn't even vote for Sehwag.

Gavaskar was a clear pick.
Tendulkar was a clear pick.

Sehwag got loads of votes.
Dravid was a tight pick but number 3 had loads of quality names.

I will say again their isn't really a dodgy pick in this yet barring Sehwag.

All picks so far have been pretty standard. I was a little surprised at Dravid's inclusion, though can hardly argue, as he was a great number three. India have had four great batsmen in the last 30 odd years, and they're all in.

I dont think I was saying anything with hatred, I simply said that the results of the first three (and fourth no doubt) being Indian reflect the fact a lot of Indian fans post here.

On an Aussie board you could have Hayden (averages only 0.5 runs per innings less than Gavaskar), Langer (better record than Sehwag at opener) and Ponting ( I believe better record than Dravid) for those three.

Is Tendulkar a clear pick in a world with Jacques Kallis? I know who I would take in my team, as bats Kallis averages more, but he also bowled like a proper seamer in his peak and was an excellent slip fielder.... and Kallis also played on statistically the tougher pitches.

Just to confuse things, someone switches their vote to Lara from Dravid....

That's just a guess I think. Almost all the comments have come from England supporters. I hope any Indian posters here continue to vote. All these options are pretty legit. I picked Gavaskar and Sehwag. I'm sure lots of English watchers have high regard for them, and Dravid is popular everywhere. And SRT is SRT. I've got five Aussies in my team though.

If there is a trend, it's probably towards more recent players.

Maybe should have waited for this vote to be complete before doing 4&5, in case Lara won this one.

Sunny has that great record against the West Indies though. And his average is two ahead of Haydos if you leave out the minnows.

Apart from his longevity, Tendulkar has that enviable record in all countries and against all sides, and was a more stylish bat. Both had a phenomenal hunger for batting. I didn't vote for either, but I'd probably gone for JK out of the two because between he was as good a batter, but was more than that too. But only after Steve Waugh.
