Before my time! Swanny and Monty improved their stats from then. But that is what I was getting at. You'd think that spinners would do well on the great spinning pitches of Asia, but pretty much everyone does better at home, or at least in familiar conditions, with Warne travelling better than most.

Though even the South African spinners did well in India, in their recent series.

Warne's record in India isn't the disaster everyone remembers it to be.

Well Australia lost twice in his first two series, and he didnt perform well. His last series there was better in 2004.

i have always found it hard to hold warne's record in india against him

having to bowl to four of the best players of spin ever in sachin, dravid, ganguly and laxman in their own backyard is not an enviable task

i remember reading that the tours to india tended to be badly timed for warne vis a vis injuries

Personally felt Warne had a mentally stumbling block with india or against them.
He generally didn't have the same fizz when he was bowling against india also when you hear him speak against his experience against india it is totally different compared to other teams.
gods knows how many times he mentioned Tendulkar knocks in the 90s or Navjot Singh Sidhu belting him for sixes in india giving him nightmares or laxman hitting him out of the rough.

Weirdly it felt like Warne had no plan B or Plan C and generally lost patience quickly against india mostly because his Wicket taking balls or his guaranteed dot balls against the other sides didn't really work against India or they somehow can still score 4 or 6s against his best ball.

Doesn't make Warne a bad bowler because you have to take into account that he was probably facing the best batting line up against Spin of all time.
If he bowled right now he would have far better returns because indian batsman are not that great against spin now.

Sussexpop mentioned Dravid innings at trent bridge to swann when dravid hit Swann out of his length and line, lets just say Every indian batsman did that to warne during his career.
You can't say warne bowled badly against india it was more off how good india were batting against him.

Looking at spinners between 1990-2010 against India, Murali took 97 wickets at 33 in 22 games, at under three an over. That's a substantial record and a pretty good one. Arjanth Mendis has a superb record of 28 wickets in 4 games at 22, though Ganguly will have been long gone by then. Saqlain and Adams did well in not many games. A few finger spinners were economical, notably Ray Price, Nicky Boje and our own Ashley Giles. And there were the crazy stats, like Krejza's twelve wickets in a game that ended his career, and freak spells from Michael Clarke and Shaun Udal.
I always say that everybody's right.

A late vote for Gibbs doesn't dent Shane's Overwhelming win. All those wickets made in spite of being captained by Steve Waugh.

I'll put up the number sixes this afternoon.
