Oh yeah. Miller can count himself unlucky.

The polling is a bit stuck. I've considered posting links on other threads but thought it might annoy people.

Bradman would just block the ball with his helmet.

Maybe two Tests, one on uncovered pitches with no DRS or helmets.

Durhamfootman wrote:The best XI will need someone to play, which would affect the line up. The opposition would, I imagine, have to be the best ever side of the last 50 years, which would either see Gilchrist, Warne and Glenda (if he gets the gig) dropped from the best XI, or Viv and Marshall.

that could bring some of the unlucky 'worthies' back into contention
and happily create a new thread in the process

To be honest the B team as it stands would probably beat the A team.

Hayden
Langer
Ponting
Kallis
Chappie
Sobers
Sangakarra
Ambrose
Murali
One of Marshall/Steyn

Pretty bloody good team that

Think Viswanath was the better captain.

Didn't think Sunny had it for that long.

I think he was captain for a while. I believe, but might be wrong, that his team were the last to beat the West Indies in the 15 year period they didn't lose a series. But iirc, he was known for dialling up pitches that were dead as dodo's, and being ultra negative.

They periodically removed him for series that they actually felt they could win in, because Gavaskar would happily play for a 0-0 in a five match series.

Sobers for me. I only caught the tailend of his career when I was a young boy but he stands above the rest imo.

Sobers was only 29 in 1965, so probably at his peak.

So the number six is fitting into

Sehwag
Gavaskar
Richards
Lara
Tendulkar

Gilchrist
Warne

Marshall
McGrath.

I'll put the last place up later.

Me too. I could get my second choice in though, to block off an option I don't fancy.
