May Domestic Cricketer of the Month

Postby The Professor » Tue May 31, 2016 7:01 pm

First full month of the County season to take out pick from here. Pick from the stand out candidates below:

Steve Borthwick (Durham)

An impressive month for the all-rounder has out his name in the frame for an England call up. He's averaged 88.3 with the bat across his 5 innings and also got 10 wickets at 33.9.

Brett D'Oliveria (Worcestershire)

Had to wait a while for centuries but got his fair share in May. He bagged 496 in 5 innings this month; an average of 99.2.

Ben Duckett (Northamptonshire)

The young Northants batsman has scored 306 runs across 8 innings for his side; an average of 38.3. His top score was 189 v Essex.

James Hildreth (Somerset)

His name has dropped out of the England frame somewhat but 492 runs in 8 innings at an average of 61.5 isn't to be sniffed at. His top score was 166 against Yorkshire.

Ed Joyce (Sussex)

Toying with retirement at the end of last season the Irishman is on fire with 466 runs in 5 innings; an average of 93.2. His top score was 250 v Derbyshire.

Simon Kerrigan (Lancashire)

Predominantly known as a bowler he has also turned up with the bat in occasion this season. He has got ten wickets at an average of 33.2 and averages 22.8 with the bat for May.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Worcestershire)

Has been included in both this list and the T20 list for his fine form for Worcestershire. He accrued 224 in 4 innings across May at an average of 56.

Liam Livingstone (Lancashire)

The young Lancashire batsman has score 198 runs in his 6 innings this season at an average of 33. His top score this season was 108* against Somerset.

Michael Lumb (Nottinghamshire)

The Notts batsman got 367 spread across 9 innings in May; an average of 40.8. His top score was 108 v Warwickshire.

Brendan Taylor (Nottinghamshire)

After a very poor spell in April, that saw the experienced Zimbabwean drop into the 2s, May was Taylor's month. He scored 376 in 6 innings; an average of 62.7.

Chris Woakes (Warwickshire)

Fine form with both bat and ball saw Woakes get called up into the England squad once more. He got 18 wickets before his call up at an average of 17.7 whilst also scoring 191 in 5 innings.

Probably would have gone Robson (Middx). In his absence, can't beat a ton and a nine-fer.
I always say that everybody's right.

Steven Patterson for me, very under-rated bowler.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott
