June ODI Player of the Month

Tammy Beaumont (England Women)
Under the regime of Mark Robinson, Beaumont has excelled. In the three matches she played she scored a colossal 342 runs at an average of 114. Her top score was 168* in England Women’s 202 run win over Pakistan Women.

Darren Bravo (West Indies)
The West Indian captain scored 222 runs across the seven games that led his side to the final in the triangular series. He averaged 31.7. His top score was 102 in the game against South Africa that confirmed West Indies place in the final.

Yuzvendra Chahal (India)
Chahal got 6 wickets for India across the three ODI matches in June. His best figures were 3/25 in India’s 8 wicket win over Zimbabwe but he also got 2/25 in the following game. Overall his average was a lowly 12.8.

KL Rahul (India)
The debutant did particularly well for himself against a weakened Zimbabwe side and became the first player to score a century on ODI debut. He averaged 65.3 across the 3 ODIs. His top score was that 100* on debut.

Sunil Narine (West Indies)
The newly remodelled action of the West Indian spinner got its debut in June and did pretty well for itself. Narine got 12 wickets in the triangular series with South Africa and Australia at an average of 23.75. His best figures were 6/27 against South Africa at the start of the month.

Seekuge Prasanna (Sri Lanka)
A player who has played a hatful of ODI games over the last month and whose team have failed to impress; however he has proved himself a real emerging talent. He scored 167 runs and at an average of 27.8. On top of that he also bagged 4 wickets.

Jason Roy (England)
A man once considered not good enough for ODI cricket has blossomed into a dynamic opener for England. He has scored 282 runs across 4 games, averaging 70.5. His top score was 165 – the second highest score by an English man in an ODI.

Imran Tahir (South Africa)
Another player whose team has had an unspectacular series for South Africa but Tahir did not cover himself in shame as much as some of his compatriots. He got 13 wickets across the five games South Africa played at an average of 16.2. His best figures were a stonking 7/45 against West Indies.

Chris Woakes (England)
A bit of a renaissance player for England over the last few months; Woakes has forced his way back into the national team. He got 5 wickets across his four ODIs this month at an average of 38.2. As well as this he showed himself a handy lower middle order batsman with a combatant 95* in the tied match against Sri Lanka.
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."
