September One Day Player of the Month

A number of fine contenders from one day games this month. Pick your man of the month.

Mohammad Afzal (Saudi Arabia)

An impressive all rounder from an unlikely country, Afzal scored 211 and got seven wickets in six matches. His best figures with the bat was 77* v Namibia and with the ball he achieved 4/59 v Kenya.

Umar Amin (Pakistan A)

The number three batsman has impressed for his A side this month scoring 201 runs in three games. His top score for September was 86* v Zimbabwe A.

Temba Bavuma (South Africa)

Bavuma marked his call up to the South African side by being only the second Saffer to score a century on debut. His 113 v Ireland can be added to his other one day game at the start of September where he scored 117 for Lions v Titans.

Kristen Beams (Australia Women)

Beams had an outstanding month for Australia Women in all forms of the games but her ODI form was truly exceptional. In the four games she played against Sri Lanka Women she conceded only 77 runs and claimed 13 wickets.

Sarel Burger (Namibia)

Burger played two ODIs v Saudi Arabia in September snd impressed with the ball. Over the two games he claimed six wickets for the loss of just 78 runs.

Theunis de Bruyn (South Africa A)

The twenty three year old only played one game in September but impressed. The Pretorian born all rounder got 90* and 2/37 against the National Performance Squad.

Quinton de Kock (South Africa)

Two big hitting performances against Ireland and Australia saw de Kock score 260 runs. He also had a hand in three dismissals behind the wicket.

Callum MacLeod (Scotland)

Only the two ODIs for the Scot in September but his total of 130 was impressive. His best figures were 102 v Hong Kong.

Udara Palihawadana (Oman Under 19s)

An end of the month poll would not be an end of the month poll without some obscure youngster. This seventeen year old has impressed with both bat and ball; rasping 64 with the willow against Thailand Under 19s and claiming five wickets against Kuwait Under 19s.

Fakhar Zaman (Pakistan A)

Another Pakistan A player to have impressed with the bat against Zimbabwe A. Zaman's 230 runs over three games marks him out as one to watch.
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."
