CMS gets it right.

What he'll be remembered for as captain by me.

A series win in India.
His relationship with Pietersen which led to KP's sacking.
Landmark Ashes Mitchwash.
Neurotic, fearful and defensive field placings.
Poor relations with other Test sides.
Inarticulate and self justifying PR.
Winning unexpectedly in South Africa.
leading England to its first loss v Bangladesh.
One of the best innings by an England skipper- his 263 in Abu Dhabi.
Fifth best batting average by England captain, behind Gooch, May, Hutton and Dexter.
I always say that everybody's right.

agree with most of that AC

my opinion of him changed quite a bit over the last couple of years. i was never a fan of his captaincy, thought he had all of Strauss's flaws, most of his strengths but the major difference was where Strauss always came across as a strong leader, i never saw that in Cook. the last couple of years however, specifically with the stubbornness over the ODI captaincy and the subsequent remarks he made after the WC that our exit was because he had been sacked as captain, made me see him more as a bit delusional over his own abilities as captain and that he sometimes came across as thinking he was bigger than the team.

i'm still not convinced he will handle the transition from captain to player very well and wont like not being in charge.

Took him too long to come to the right decision but let's stop kicking him now he's down and gone.

He never struck me as a strong leader verbally, but led the way with the bat. He was the right man at the time, and done ok.

Five positives and five negatives. For a pretty mixed period that's reasonable. Why pretend Cook's period as captain was uncontroversial and consistently successful (won 24, lost 22).

Right decision, this was never about losing in india, just that england are likely to win more or be successful with a new captain.
it was plainly obvious that england needed a new leader to take a pretty much a new young team forward.
not sure Cook is suited in captaining an attacking brand of cricket or generally knows how to use a team full of expensive bowling options barring broad and Anderson.

in the end cook did a decent job at the captain job.

Although hopefully the new captain is more of a nice person.
was quite shocking how many people hated cook or the england team during his reign.

I.m not pretending anything, I've wanted him out since the Ashes loss in 2013-14 as he should have gone down with his sunken ship but he's gone and time to move on.

Results matter little in the scheme of things. It's a team game and the captain is only part of the reason a team wins or loses, not all of it.

Cook was uninspiring as a personality and leader, selfish when criticise was levelled to him directly, and often failed to react on the field to the changing dynamic of a cricket match.

Its hard to say anything positive about his viewable leadership. I couldn't tell you a time he made an interjection in a game without His bat in his hand that demonstrated independent success.

I don't see how an England captain who won series in India and South Africa, not to mention winning two Ashes series can be denigrated as a skipper.

Because that's not all he did. I wouldn't denigrate those achievements (though his two Ashes wins weren't the most interesting on record).

not the only results he achieved.
Was the first captain of a major team to lose against Bangladesh, couldn't beat WI away from home and lost to sri lanka at home and let not forget they also drew a series against Pakistan as well at home.
