I wouldn't be shocked to see him taken to India in that position as he is probably the best third seam option if they wish to play two spinners. And he wasn't the worst of the batsmen in Sri Lanka.

Not sure he has a long term future though as I don't rate his batting highly enough : feel he would need to improve a lot or he won't survive in any situation where they want six/three/one - ie , anywhere but the subcontinent.

I think he will get back into the team, but he will need to work on his batting.

He is still young, the only way he won't make it back is if Aus find themselves a new Watto.

OK, maybe not that good, but an alrounder who can hold his spot in the team - which actually means: he can bat AND bowl well enough.

I am another who thinks that Maxwell will be who the selectors opt for.

I think they will probably select him, though not sure they will need a 3rd spinner if they pick both Lyon and O'Keefe.

Marsh has bowled well for Australia, its just his batting thats a problem.

This is the question no one has been able to find a suitable answer for. Not even close to getting a suitable answer yet.

Unless he flies overnight to meet up with the test squad........

Seriously what were Cricket Australia thinking. Well i have an idea and it involves money. The problem here though is that most of the "superstars" are with the test team.

Or maybe this just shows what Cricket Australia really thinks of away series? Nothing to see here, just ignore the result, we are great at home. Here is a T20 at home to show you where our priorities are. :angry

Australia pick 5 spinners! http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-aus ... 77623.html

Cartwright dropped. Maxwell, M.Marsh, Agar for the all-rounder slot.

India squad: Steven Smith (capt), David Warner, Matt Renshaw, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Pete Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Agar, Steve O'Keefe, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, Josh Hazlewood, Jackson Bird, Nathan Lyon

Australia have acquired the haunted relic of Ted Dexter's revolving door.

Swepson.

Gotta assume that this is for the exposure. 14 first class matches, 41 wickets @ 33, is not the CV to be justifying selection as a spinner in India.

It does look like the selectors are a little spooked by "India".

I fancy them to do better than England. Still lose every Test. Just, not as badly.

Doing well for my BBL fantasy side in the last few games.
