January 2017 ODI Player of the Month

A massive stack of ODIs this month. From unheard of names to some of the biggest of names in world cricket...and a fair few Indian feature. Evaluate each on their credit.

Abdullah Adil (Afghanistan A)

A young man coming to prominence for Afghanistan at the right time. He has impressed with 5 wickets in his first two games including 4/22 v Zimbabwe A.

Jade de Klerk (South Africa Under 19s)

The first of a crop of youngsters to make the lost. De Klerk scored thirteen wickets at an average of 13.8.

M.S. Dhoni (India)

The outgoing India captain found his form with the bat. He scored 165 across three matches and contributed in 4 dismissals.

Avishka Fernando (Sri Lanka Under 19s)

One of the genuine talents that is in the verge of breaking into the Sri Lanka senior side had a good January. He scored 292 in his six matches in January; top scoring with 108 v Zimbabwe Under 19s.

Nawaz Khan (Afghanistan A)

Debuts are oftentimes hard for young Cricketers - no such problem with Nawaz. He sneaks into the lost with a performance on the 31st which saw him get 5-51 v Zimbabwe A.

Virat Kohli (India)

Another stunning month for the new India captain who scored 185 runs across three matches. His highest score was 122 in the first ODI V England.

Muhammed Mayet (South Africa Under 19s)

A mixed bag for the South African 18 year old. His top score was 102 v Sri Lanka Under 19.

Hardik Pandya (India)

Another step in the development of one of the funniest names in world cricket. He over performed in the only ODI that India lost bagging 3/49 and 56 in the final match.

Nipun Ransika (Sri Lanka Under 19s)

Another Sri Lanka emerging talent - this time with the ball. He has impressed with 17 wickets at an average of 10 across his five games.

Marcus Stoinis (Australia)

Gets into the shortlist of the back of one outstanding performances. His record breaking 3/49 and 146* put the twenty seven year old on the cricketing map.

David Warner (Australia)

Another great summer for the diminutive opener. He scored 367 runs in five matches, an average of 73.4.

Kuldeep Yadav (India A)

Has been all over the place this month playing for the Rest of India team as well as his domestic team Utter Pradesh, however his best form came for India A. He got 5-60 against a full strength England team earlier in the month.

Making runs in the WC today and averaging over 70 in the competition at the moment with a SR of over 100.
