January 2017 Domestic Player of the Month

Postby The Professor » Tue Jan 31, 2017 7:59 pm

With the Sheffield Shield on a sabbatical for it's more sparky cousin, the domestic cricket scene has been left to the culmination of the Ranji Trophy and the Irani Cup. May have missed some performances so feel free to highlight any but here is my very short short list.

Baba Indrajith (Tamil Nadu)

The young Indian batsman was the main stumbling block in Mumbai's progression to the Ranji Trophy final. His 64 and 138 caused Mumbai some real difficulty in the Semifinals.

Wriddhiman Saha (Rest of India)

The Test player made his comeback in domestic cricket in the Irani Cup where he excelled with the bat and behind the wicket. He scored a match winning 203* in the second innings but also was involved in 4 dismissals across the two Gujarat innings.
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."
