Computur says no because I can't pick 6.
picked Anderson, broad, Footit, plunkett and woakes but want Wood as well.

Only allowed five because I was going to include Stokes as a batting option, who everyone will pick, and he'd be the sixth. Surely not going to select seven pace bowlers?

I'll add a vote for Wood (as well as Brooks) when finalising the squad though.

Four runaways and then it could be anyone.

Only Stuart Broad being picked by all.

Don't see why not it is a long tour and would always prefer one extra man abroad than one less.

Bit early for this , surely ?

Someone is bound to get injured during the summer...

But I've gone for the obvious five who would be picked if the team was leaving next week ; and I suspect they will be anyway form and fitness allowing. Anderson and Broad remain the best England have , with the one quibble that age and injuries might bring Jimmy down earlier than he'd like...hopefully not before this mission is completed. Wood - if he can stay fit - looks the one who might offer the kind of pace that is always handy in Australia ; Woakes (useful batting aside) has looked the part at home and developed his own pace to the point where he should also handle the conditions down here ; and Ball has showed enough in the handful of matches he's played to be at the head of the rest - though he isn't so much a standout that a really good season from one of the others mightn't change that. Coad has had a good start...

Suppose they might decide that a left arm option would be nice . Pity Footitt isn't a bit younger - I think he'll need to tear down some trees with Surrey to get a spot though. And he isn't even guaranteed a place in their team at present.

There is usually one surprise pick on an Ashes tour though. And an injury replacement at some point...

Can change selections, it's an open ended poll.

I'll add a spinner thread.

Plunkett isn't even first choice at Yorks. 2016 - 8 games 10 wickets at 60.20.

Broad
Anderson - Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney
Woakes
Stokes
Wood - Perth and Brisbane
Tom Curran

Plunkett's my enforcer!

Ball's still hanging on to his fifth spot.

Stokes can be the enforcer. He looks the part. :laugh Ball is similar to Broad. What about Tom Curran, for something different.

After England were destroyed by pace and bounce last time, it's hard to imagine the Aussies won't try and produce Perth-like pitches again. England need someone who can push the Aussies back. Footitt was my alternative for Plunkett (in reality neither is that likely to go, I accept). Out of the five who will definitely tour (four leaders above plus Stokes), Woakes is probably the nearest to that bowler but still not really pace like fire. Given it seems uncertain that Wood can keep his speeds up for longer than one spell.

A bit of an early indication of the batting choices perhaps?
