After the rude interruption of the Royal London One Day Cup the County Championship is back in full flow with a bumper crop of players to choose from.

Mark Cosgrove (Leicestershire)

The big lad from Australia has had to bail Leicestershire out before and May was no different. He scored 242 runs in May with his top score being 188 v Derbyshire.

Joe Denly (Kent)

Kent have had some good individual performances thus far in the season but have, perhaps, failed to gel as a team. This month it was Denny's chance to shine as he scored exactly 200 runs and has also got two wickets.

Brett D'Oliveira (Worcestershire)

The surprise outfit of Division 2 have been buoyed up by strong performances from D'Oliveira. He's batted three times in May and scored 198 runs with his top score being 150 against Derbyshire.

Dawid Malan (Middlesex)

Middlesex's stuttering start to the season was given a kickstart by a decent performance by Malan for Surrey. He scored 152 runs and got 2-1 with the ball.

Kumar Sangakara (Surrey)

The veteran Sri Lankan, who announced that he will retire at the end of the season, has had a fantastic month despite the fact he failed to break a long standing county record. He has scored 518 runs in his four innings; a mouth watering average of 129.5.

Luke Wells (Sussex)

After a long lay off due to injury, Wells was back with a bang scoring a career best 258 against Durham. Overall he has scored 283 in three innings.
