I mentioned playing at Lord's but really I mean just a standard ODI good batting track.

OK ...Hmm. Tricky. Might imply it will be rough for all bowlers...

I need to break this deadlock , eh ? I'm going to leave out Tredwell then a little reluctantly as I think I want a fourth pace man and we do have Root and KP to bowl a bit of off spin for variety.

I'll leave this until the weekend.

I think the balance is ok actually, with Woakes in the side.

Wonder if this side could win a WC?

OK, time to call time. Our all time ODI XI is:
Gooch
Trescothick
Root
Pietersen
Collingwood
Buttler
Flintoff
Woakes
Swann
Gough
Anderson

Tredwell

So three of the present ODI side, often called England's best ever.

Thanks for your votes.

Maybe this side would be different already.

If not already, then pretty soon I think.

Chuck Rashid in for Tredwell then drop woakes out

And one of bairstow or Roy for gooch

Gooch
Barstow/Roy
Trescothick
Root
Pietersen
Collingwood
Buttler
Flintoff
Woakes
Rashid
Swann
Gough
Anderson

Tredwell
Woakes

As above, bfp?

If so, I'm liking the bowling attack, with Colly/Root more than capable options - if required, but the batting looks a bit six-out could soon be all-out.

Woakes (no. 8) for Anderson maybe...

If that top 7 can't get you enough runs for your best bowlers to defend then you are struggling

Swann and Rashid can both get a quick 20 or 30

I'd rather have Anderson with the new ball than woakes and we have Freddie and gough to bowl at the death so Jimmy can bowl plenty at the start when it's swinging a little

Rashid over Tredwell definitely seems a no brainer to me, Rashid has been exceptional for a while now taking 72 wickets at 25.4 over the last couple of years

Gooch/Bairstow
Trescothick
Root
Pietersen
Collingwood/Morgan
Buttler
Flintoff
Woakes/Botham
Swann
Gough
Anderson

Tredwell

The BBC carried out a similar exercise, and selected the above alternatives.

Given the last 12 months and the records they have smashed together, Bairstow/Roy are making a pretty strong case for dislodging Gooch and Tresco opening the batting.
