So next part of this incredible summer...who's gonna win it?

England- the better side and in home conditions.

I think it should be awarded to new zealand

it should be England, but only by virtue of the fact that Australia's team is in an even greater state of flux than theirs

I just can't decide whether the generally low quality of both sides will make for a poor series or an amazing one

England's batting is so hopeless (even more so now Cook has gone) that in general terms I think Australia have the better side.

The only way England will win is if they get pitches that play to their one superiority - swing bowling from Anderson, Broad and Woakes. That said, they've been winning every summer for the last four years by virtue of getting such pitches, so this year probably won't be any different.

I predict another low-scoring series.

I voted for England but after the Ireland game I'm going 3-1 to the Aussies.

I actually can't even muster up the enthusiasm after an emotive World Cup campaign.

Wouldn't bother me if the slightest if Australia won 5-0. England winning next years World Twenty20 would be a better feeling (with Australia as the finalists) than regaining The Ashes this year.

Picking England to take the series . But with a little less confidence than the last couple of home Ashes series as I really cannot predict how - or whether ! - the batting will stand up. Nothing would really astonish me in terms of results ; but the home team tends to win most of the time so will stick with that...3-1 with my fingers crossed.

Well done GJ.

Smith's average in this series was only his third best in a series of four or more matches. And not even his best in an Ashes!

He's third in best averages against England (minimum 15 Tests).

First on the list is the Bradman, the The Black Bradman, then The Babyfaced Bradman.

Interesting to see the number of tests each played v. England, compared to the time playing test cricket. Only Headley had a better average against England than career ave. Smith the same, Bradman noticeably lower.
