England test team of the last 40 years: the second spinner

At AC's suggestion, the thread for the second spinner to play instead of the third seamer in Asian conditions. Vote on the basis that your first choice spinner has already been picked, and the third most popular seam option will miss out.

I'm breaking my own rules slightly including Moeen here, but while I don't think he'd win as first choice spinner or allrounder, I think it's reasonable to include him here as a backup option.

I'm voting Monty for this one. He was briefly pretty good until eclipsed by Swann, and their combination to win in India in 2012 remains one of the high points of my cricket-watching.

Monty as well. As mentioned himself and Swann were terrific in India. Fielding was bad but so was Tuffnell's!

Fielding is a problem, but Monty was a very fine bowler on helpful pitches with his quicker pace. Not so good on flat pitches. Perfect back up.

Basically picking for a trip to India/Sri Lanka/UAE , isn't it ? So happy with Monty for this. He and Swann made a useful pair in those parts.

Some circumstances where I'd like a Giles or a Tufnell but not in the configurations we seem to be heading towards.

I can't ever think of a time when I'd like a Tufnell. I actually clicked on other by mistake and then couldn't take it out
