IMO that is what i think no cricketer should do. And to do that during a test series is breaking the rules of the team ethos.

Look at the way the sentance is structured Adi, the bit you've put in bold is complete seperate to the fact that KP sent texts.

Splinters, it says that he sent in sms to both that there was politics in England team and also the retirement thing.

No it doesn't, the part in between - - is a seperate point detailing the history of KP after the Headingly test, it has nothing to do with the content of the texts.

It reads,

Both men are said to be embarrassed that Pietersen made contact with them during a game England needed to win to keep alive hopes of victory in the three-match series

Do you mean that he did not reveal it in sms but told them on phone call or during face to face conversation that politics existed in England dressing room.

I've read that Alan Border stopped his team from fratenizing with the opposition during a test series and that set the tone for future Aussie captains.

It looks like another attempt by the media to make KP look like a villain.

No Adi, when you put something between - - it is a point that is seperate to the sentance its self, it's a way of including what would sometimes be footnotes in the text and a more professional way of using ( ).

The sentance reads:

"Both men are said to be embarrassed that Pietersenmade contact with them during a game England needed to win to keep alive hopes of victory in the three-match series. "

This part:

who has complained of dressing-room and warned he could quit international cricket after the Lord’s Test

Is the history of KPs actions after the Headingly test where he said there were dressing room politics during his press interview. It's set up in a way to include the point so you naturally associate it with the rest of the sentance.

I wonder who leaked these texts.

We wont know the exact nature of what was said unless one of the parties goes public with the texts.

The more worrying thing is how the Daily Mail has used every trick in the book baring just fabricating quotes to try and push a message that is actually not supported by their article. In short any time you read something that is not sourced or cited you have to ask where did they get this from?

Border was criticised for over socialising with some players, and in 1989 he had a policy of not allowing his team to socialise with England, but this was not carried forward. The only real regression was under Waugh's captaincy in 2001 when he blew his top over Ganguly's treatment of his team... Waugh felt Ganguly's cocksure and arrogant approach where he would turn up to meetings dressed like a tramp and would keep him waiting at every opportunity made Waugh more isolated as a captain himself, but a lot of his senior players were not barred from socialising as long as it was cohesive with Waugh's policy of team unity...(ie not slagging other players off to the opposition!!)...

Mark Taylor has even commented many times about it.

Okay thanks for information regarding how -- works. :thumb

Seems like someone with good English skills tricking people who don't know English as good.

But i think, that all this KP-ECB drama has been stretched so much like a rubber band, that it will break soon.

In normal circumstances this texting would be of little consequence but when added to the long list of strange behaviors it takes on more significance. Pietersen behaves more and more like a petulent schoolboy rather than a grown up man.

The story orginated from a piece by South African journalist Stuart Hess who described KP as a "closet Protea" and said:

"At training, he spends a lot of time by himself. There is very little interaction with teammates. In warm-ups before play starts he is more chatty with the South African players than the English ones.
In the shared space that was the lunch area for the two teams at Headingley, he was cracking jokes in Afrikaans with some of the South African players, much to Strauss’s chagrin. He texted many of the South African players regularly during the second Test, and his general demeanour towards the tourists has been friendly – possibly too friendly for Strauss and Andy Flower"

In the scheme of things Im not sure I care about tweets, texts or jokes in Afrikaans in this universe - however much exitement they cause in the parallel univesrse the KP saga seems to have flung everyone into.

He also Tweets the Saffers a fair bit, but the question has to be: So What?

Interestingly that story makes absolutely no mention of the comments about the England players and Coach that the Daily Mail was trying to put the emphasis on with no verification. If this is simply coming down to some of the England players being uncomfortable about KP then they should grow up and let their bats do the talking.

The long and the short of it is, the bloke is a wonderful batsman and if the South Africans had as good of an eye for talent as the English domestic coaches do then he'd probably be scoring those runs against us not for us, but they didn't. He's world class and people seems obsessed with the person not the player, 21 test hundreds, 7000 test runs and an average of nearly 50 speak for themselves, if anyone thinks England would be better off without KP then they're a world away from reality.

Not necessarily - he's a shameless egotist & increasingly disruptive presence. Players like that have a shelf life in any team sport & he may be on the verge of reaching his.

So everything the press write in favour of KP is accurate and everything negative is rubbish. The ECB are 'pants' and the sun shines out of KP's lower region.
