It just seems to be such a token gesture. While it is good that they are making a more direct route for associates to play some "Test" cricket, in reality all it is providing a pathway for is a series of meaningless games against a team none of the top nations take seriously anyway.

The branding of associates playing Test cricket is very missleading.

Waddell says, though they disliked the Berlin captain Gerhard Thamer, "who had a penchant for punching fielders who dropped catches off his bowling".
Amusing. Who in this age would like to do the same?

Cricket is the sort of thing that I can imagine Germans both liking and doing well at. Pity it didn't take off.

Australia and SA are heading the international rankings, with India, England and Pakistan in a huddle some way back.

Would have still thought SA would be clear leaders.

John Invererity and Andy Bichel look like standing down as Oz selectors. Rod Marsh is primed for the top job, with Mark Waugh coming in, along with Trevor Hohns, maybe.

I agree. IIRC he fell out with Duncan Fletcher over the choice of wicket keeper (the Read vJones debate). Top bloke.
