The coach...

But we don't have one at the moment.

I'd have thought Strauss is in charge of international affairs, hence why the Director of Cricket role is created.

Then what the point of the Coach then.
Considering it will be the Coach that will be sacked if the results are not good enough.
Strauss might have the similar job to a director of football the ones that control finances, buy players/ pick teams and then their survive most times while the managers get sacked.

We will not really know if he has done the right thing until 2019, when England host both the Ashes and the World Cup, but he has stuck to his principles while confirming that the powers that be at the ECB might have changed but the opposition to Pietersen remains the same.

This is really making my blood boil now. :angry

Morgan remains ODI skipper, and takes over the T20 team.

Talk about burying bad news!

Just kidding.

Joe Root becomes Test vc.

Once the Bellievers hear that their boy has been stripped of the vc, the reaction will make the KP furore look like a cliffhanger on Take the High Road.

Joe Root groomed for England captaincy, suppose he has won more County Championship titles than Alastair Cook.

I'd have liked a potential Test captain in charge of limited overs, much like Vaughan was to Hussain. But it's not the biggest issue.

By my understanding, the Director of Cricket role is someone working in the background rather than making decisions. I imagine Strauss will also be working alongside the Lions and Under 19 squads.

Is Strauss responsible for a say in the England test captain?

I presume he is so if Cook doesn't perform this summer the pressure wont be on Cook, it will be on Strauss to sack Cook.
