Ghana will play Vanuatu in the final of division 8. Should be a cracker of a contest!

Vanuatu won the division 8 final in emphatic fashon!

Both finalists win promotion to division 7, where Germany and Botswana await along with 2 teams coming down from division 6.

Afghanistan shoud undoubtedly have associate status. Had it not been for their unfortunate circumstances on the home front, they'd be being fast tracked to Test status, IMHO.

Keep a look out for 16 year old Malaysian Muhammad Anwar. He's a left arm spinner and in recent times has taken 2/43 v India U19, 2/37 v Afghanistan, 3/27 v Oman and 5/27 v Maldives.

16 year old Anwar is now the leading wicket taker in the ACC Trophy Elite with 14 wickets in 4 matches. 2/37, 3/27, 5/27 and 4/29! He's been a key part of the team and has got Malaysia into the semi's. A fantastic achievement considering this is such a young side. Hopefully the team will continue to progress and will go up the rankings.

"Cricket in Ethiopia is not played by expats. It is not played by locals. It is played by a people stuck in between. The community of Rastafarians who play the game in this grey zone have been locked for decades in a purgatory of stateless uncertainty, and their legal status in the country is more often than not described as "unresolved". In Shashamane, cricket is a game played by shadows. It would be easy to say that cricket as played in this nondescript town, which lies some 250 kilometres south of Addis Ababa and 12,000km west of Kingston, Jamaica, is a microcosm of the larger problems faced by its ex-Caribbean community, and it would not be too far off the mark. The game came with the first major wave of Rastafarians, who arrived here from the Caribbean in the 1960s (and later, from other parts of the world as well, including Britain), in answer to Emperor Haile Selassie's invitation, in 1948, to realise what every Rasta holds dear as a classic dream - repatriation to Africa. Selassie had donated around 500 acres of his private land for a Rasta community in the town, though a lot of it has since been appropriated by the local Ethiopians, who consider the land theirs by birthright."

The 26-year old William Perkins, who opened the batting for Trinidad in the Champions League, has now migrated to the USA, and played for them against Canada....

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/c ... 91317.html

"Headlining the list of players added are 40-year-old Neil McGarrell, who played four Tests for the West Indies in 2001, and 26-year-old William Perkins, who played one Twenty20 International for the West Indies in 2008. USACA had attempted to pick McGarrell for their squad to 2011 ICC World Cricket League Division Three in Hong Kong, but their selection was nixed by the ICC after he was ruled ineligible for failing to complete the minimum four-year residency requirement."

Probably very soon considering their lack of games, players refusing to play because they're not paid and players leaving for other countries.
