The enigma that is Kevin Pietersen

Nobody is claiming that it has always been sweetness and light in the dressing rooms of successful teams. I don’t see where this argument is going, really.

For the ECB still to seem determined not to offer a contract would indicate that Pietersen’s transgressions really are as serious as we have been led to believe.

as i said yesterday i dont think the decision not to award him a central contract at this point holds any real significance

his main issues are how he is going to be received by the rest of the squad within the dressing room and team environment and nothing either party might say at this point in time over a conference table is going to answer those issues

i would still expect to see him being named in the tour party for india and it will be how he "re-integrates" himself into the dressing room over the course of that 2 month tour that would determine his future

if they dont pick him for the india tour then i dont think we will see him play for england ever again which will obviously delight some individuals who have never wanted him part of the england setup even before the drama of this summer anyway

after all hes not really "one of us" anyway is he ... ?

Yes, the “ongoing talks” are a bit of a concern. We may yet see Pietersen in India.

Its quite clear that some people have got a personal vendetta against KP when they say that the ongoing talks are a concern. So you don't want him to play even if the issues are resolved? :facepalm

the ongoing talks should only be a "concern" for those people allowing their personal prejudices to judge what they think is best for the england team

if the same management structure that decided the 10 individuals who got central contracts yesterday are worthy of those contracts decide that he deserves another chance then we should trust in their judgement , if they decide that its in the best interests of the team to exclude him then even if we personally disagree with that decision we should still trust they are doing so for the right reasons and not because of the aforementioned personal prejudices that have been exhibited throughout this "drama" by certain sections

All the talk about KP not getting a central contract has obscured the scandalous behavior of the selectors toward Samit Patel. Recently he's been almost a regular in the ODI and T2o games and has performed well yet he hasn't been awarded an incremental contract. You would imagine a player with two recent tests, 31 mostly recent ODI and 9 T20 appearances would have earned such recognition, but no.
To add insult to injury Geoff Miller said this about the award of contracts:

"Contracts are on-going recognition for those players who have regularly been selected for England and have performed consistently as well as players who we feel could play an important role for England over the next 12 months."

That presumably means that Patel doesn't come up to that standard. Shameful.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Some seem not to have a clue what they’re talking about on this issue.

All those who oppose Pietersen playing for England again are those who never wanted him playing in the first place and are somehow prejudiced and / or have a personal vendetta against him? What upper tripe, but, it has to be said, not completely unexpected.

Performed consistently? Surely that would exclude Bresnan? :?

I have no problems with Bresnan being awarded a central contract (actually I do but never mind) but to say that he has performed consistently over the last 12 months is hilarious.

yeah coz the predictable replies from those making judgements based on their personal opinions of the player are not completed expected ...

but obviously some are only prepared to trust the england management get things right when they make decisions that they agree with ...

bresnan gets a central contract - YAY A WONDERFUL DECISION FROM THE ENGLAND MANAGEMENT :party

ongoing talks over KP's future - OH NO WHAT ARE THE MANAGEMENT THINKING OF ? :panic
